Jean Lenke offers jazz\, folk and blues: all shades\, all hues. This performance “What the World Needs Now” will present music celebrating the end of summer\, the beginning of harvest season\, and the things we need to nourish our souls.​With a beautifully smooth and soulful voice\, Pacific Northwest Jazz\, Folk & Blues vocal artist Jean Lenke paints music in full color\, with broad strokes and a free hand. As bandleader her approach to music is free spirited\, crossing boundaries and mixing genres ~ she doesn’t always color inside the lines.\n\nWhether performing with an intimate acoustic Duo or Trio\, with her full 6-piece Summer Jazz Band\, with her “Jean Therapy X” Jazz-Fusion Quartet\, or with her all women Red Rose Jazz Project\, Jean’s fresh approach to Classic Jazz is influenced by an eclectic mix of mid-century Folk\, Jazz-Rock Fusion and a Soulful heartfelt passion for life.\n\nJean will release a new album\, The Sea the Sky\, on February 5th\, 2027. The new project is a mid-century Jazz-Folk tribute\, telling a story that celebrates all of the shades and hues that life brings us here in the great Pacific Northwest!\n\nFree Jazz Sunday has become a Field Hall staple event. Enjoy a relaxing afternoon of live music\, ocean views\, and our specialty mimosa and Bloody Mary bar. At this time Ian Maksin sings in Ukrainian\, Polish\, Russian\, English\, Farsi\, Armenian\, French\, Italian\, Arabic\, Hebrew\, Mongolian\, Bambara (one of the tongues spoken in West Africa) and many other exotic languages. Most of this repertoire was amassed by Maksin during his world travels\, jam sessions and collaborations with local musicians. Many of his original songs and instrumental compositions are also infused with flavors of ethnic music from countries and regions where he drew inspiration from: Mongolia\, West Africa\, Middle East\, the Balkans\, Andalusian flamenco. \nTHE GLOBAL MUSICIAN: Ian Maksin was born in Leningrad\, former USSR\, into a multinational family and grew up absorbing many cultures and traditions from an early age. He began playing guitar and piano at age 3 and cello at age 6 at the School for Gifted Children in Leningrad and then came to the USA at 16 to continue studies at the Manhattan School of Music in New York City and Duquesne University in Pittsburgh. After working for many years in the classical genre including a three-year tenure with the New World Symphony in Miami Ian has decided to look for his own musical path. His diverse musical experience\, including playing rock and blues guitar and passion for jazz and world music has allowed him to take the cello to a new dimension and develop his own distinct style as a musician and composer. \nIn Ian’s own words: “At some point I realized that music is much more than mere entertainment. Music is one of most powerful and unifying forces in the world\, capable of healing\, inspiring\, bringing people together and bringing peace among them. Hours: Monday-Saturday 10AM-2PM.  \nField Arts & Events Hall is thrilled to partner with our friends at JFFA for another “In Harmony” event\, and our third installation of our Candlelight series.  Over 2\,000 glowing candles set the scene for a night of music\, stories\, and entertainment. \nLuca Stricagnoli is considered to be one of the most unique guitarists in the world. Luca’s creative style\, which led him to invent instruments like the Reversed Triple Neck Guitar and the Reversed Slide Neck\, vastly contributed to the modern evolution of acoustic guitar. \nKnown worldwide for his explosive fingerstyle technique\, alternate tunings\, and multi-neck guitars\, Stricagnoli transforms the acoustic guitar into a full orchestra—blending melody\, rhythm\, percussion\, and harmony into a single\, unforgettable performance. His original compositions and reimagined covers push the boundaries of what’s possible on six strings\, delivering both technical brilliance and pure entertainment. \nHe has been hailed as a phenomenon and a prodigy by influential magazines and newspapers all over the world\, including NME\, Guitar World\, Der Spiegel\, La Repubblica\, Daily Sabah\, Frankfurter Allgemeine and more. \nLocal fans will recognize him from performances at Juan de Fuca Festival for the Arts. \n\n\n\n\n\nABOUT LUCA STRICAGNOLI\nLuca started his career at the age of 10\, studying classical guitar and later attending the Conservatory\, the most prestigious music school in Italy. He excelled in classical competitions\, placing 1st at the contest “Cittá di Lissone”\, and when he finally discovered Fingerstyle Guitar\, he began spending endless hours on YouTube\, learning techniques just by watching videos. Using his acoustic guitar\, he won even more competitions\, such as the Acoustic Guitar Contest “VII Festival Internazionale Della Chitarra di Fiuggi” with a score of 100/100\, the “Festival dei Talenti” and an opportunity to open for Legendary Italian band New Trolls. Meanwhile\, Luca met the Italian luthier Davide Serracini\, with whom he collaborated ever since. \nIn the coming years\, Luca started creating his own unique style\, which included utilizing violin bows\, multiple guitars at once\, modified capos and unusual tunings. His breakthrough came when his arrangement ‘The Last Of The Mohicans’ was picked up by Candyrat Records\, the most influential Fingerstyle label\, and quickly reached streaming numbers in the millions. After this success\, Luca was asked to release his debut album. The lead single\, a brilliant rendition of ‘Thunderstruck\,’ went viral with over 14 million views in just a few weeks\, which led to him being invited to perform all around the world. \nLuca started an intense touring activity and a few years later published his second album ‘What If?’\, which incorporated many of the unorthodox ideas that he had been working on\, like the Reversed Triple Neck Guitar. This instrument\, which featured the first reversed neck in guitar’s history\, went viral once again\, causing Luca’s career to skyrocket\, with performances at events for Nobel Prize Winners and Top CEOs\, as well as having his music featured in countless television shows. \nLuca started his own YouTube channel and quickly amassed hundred-thousands of followers\, winning the Creator Award while at the same time collaborating with his wife\, the award-winning singer/songwriter Meg Pfeiffer. Together\, they won the European Songwriting Award and 10 prizes at the German Rock & Pop Awards\, and embarked on highly successful tours. \nOn his 3rd album\, ‘Change of Rules’\, Luca debuted even more inventions such as the “Guitar Ring” but also the “Reversed Slide Neck”\, a unique attachable guitar neck which received incredible online success and even the praise of New Atlas\, one of the world’s largest international science and technology publications. \nLuca has played around 100 shows a year\, from small concerts in remote towns to massive shows at the Nokia Arena in Tel Aviv; from private events for clients like Formula 1\, Hard Rock Hotel\, Infosys\, and BNSF Railways\, to sold-out concerts in prestigious philharmonics\, theatres and performing arts centers. He has held workshops for universities and played on national TV and at international festivals\, as well as being a judge at international guitar competitions. \nIn his career he had the chance of sharing the stage with Grammy winners and nominees including Jim “Kimo” West\, Linda Briceño\, Debashish Bhattacharya and many other immensely talented artists like William Joseph\, Caroline Campbell\, Sona Jobarteh\, Lulo Reinhardt\, Antoine Dufour\, Cenk Erdogan\, Antoine Boyer\, Samuelito\, Calum Graham\, Crystian Dozza\, Thu Le and Alexandra Wittingham to mention a few. Luca has recently founded his own music label and is also a recurring host of International Guitar Night. \nOur mission is to make art accessible to everyone. DESCRIPTION:Everyone Deserves To Be Seen \nOn Display Aug 21-Oct 24 | The Laura Cooksey Gallery at Field Hall\nFREE ADMISSION \n\n\n\nFrom August 21st – October 24th the Laura Cooksey Gallery at Field Hall will host a shared exhibit of photography by Steve Raber and clothing design by Joyce Nadig from 1982 – 1987. \nSteve Raber’s photographs preserve both private moments and big\, bold and joyous pronunciation of character from the straight and queer bars of mid-1980s Los Angeles. Joyce Nadig’s clothing collections from the mid-1980s reveals a discipline built on fabric\, silhouettes\, and intentional design. \nJoyce and Steve grew up together in Port Angeles and graduated from Port Angeles High School with the class of 1971. \n\nGallery hours are 10AM – 2PM Monday through Saturday.
