SUMMARY:Open Mic Monday hosted by Bread & Gravy Duo
DESCRIPTION:Field Hall Presents: Open Mic Monday Hosted by Bread & Gravy\nMonday\, December 1st | Doors 5PM\, Signup 6PM\n*VIP Tables $40 | General Admission Free\, Donations Appreciated \nGeneral admission seating is first-come\, first-served. This is a Sunset Lounge event with bar service throughout the evening. \nField Arts & Events Hall welcomes you to share your talent on our Sunset Lounge stage! Join us for Open Mic Mondays in the Sunset Lounge\, hosted by Bread & Gravy Duo. Signup for open mic begins at 6PM; open mic starts at 6:15PM. This is a free\, all-ages event – no RSVP or ticket required. This special Open Mic Monday is taking place on a Tuesday due to scheduling conflicts. \n*VIP tables are for our very inspired patrons who choose to donate $40 to reserve seating at a premium table for up to four guests. Donations like these\, cash donations at Field Hall\, and purchases of food and drinks through the bar support this ongoing free series at Field Hall. We thank you for all levels of support – including thunderous applause for our local artists! \nABOUT BREAD & GRAVY\nBread & Gravy Duo is a popular husband and wife act (Stephanie and Jess Doenges) who perform songs across many styles and genres. They feature powerful female vocals\, eclectic piano\, rhythm guitar\, and the occasional flute and harmonica. They have hosted or cohosted many Open Mics on the peninsula\, including ‘Open Mic at the Buzz’\, ‘The Junction Open Jam’\, ‘The Rainshadow Open Mic’\, and most recently at ‘Open Mic at the Sit-N-Bull’. They often play as a bigger band\, adding steady stalwarts such as Jerry Gilleland (drums) and Jason Taylor (bass and harmonies) and have also collaborated with dozens of other local musicians\, so one never knows who will come sit in with them on a given night. Follow @breadandgravymusic for more. \nSTEPHANIE DOENGES (SOUND)\nStephanie is one of the most established and recognized musicians on the peninsula. She has been playing music since a young age\, and has been in local bands such as Restless\, Luck of the Draw\, Rolling Waters\, and the Cornstalks. For the past twelve years\, she has been the face and voice of Bread and Gravy in all of its formations. While her voice is a main draw\, and guitar is her most common instrument\, she often surprises and astounds with riveting flute and harmonica solos.\nStephanie has run sound for Open Mics for many years now\, and she’s grown very adept at dialing people in quickly\, as well as tailoring the sound to any nuance the performer displays. \nJESS DOENGES (MC)\nJess is the quintessential late bloomer\, who didn’t touch a musical instrument until age 29. Bread & Gravy is the first and only band he’s ever been in. In juxtaposition to the versatile Stephanie\, he’s a one trick pony on the piano. But his love for piano\, and his love for Stephanie shows through in his playing\, and he has truly played himself into one of the top accompanists around. As an MC\, he has tons of experience herding cats (err.. musicians) to make the Open Mic experience enjoyable and fair for all involved. His quick wit and inviting vibe tend to make the audience comfortable and relaxed\, which is what is needed to have a supportive environment for all performers.

SUMMARY:A Christmas Carol: A JFFA In Harmony event
DESCRIPTION:Presented in partnership with Juan de Fuca Foundation for the Arts\nA Christmas Carol: A JFFA In Harmony event \nWednesday\, December 17th @ 7PM | Donna M. Morris Theater\nTickets $22 – $28  CLICK HERE FOR TICKETS \nJFFA and Field Hall are proud to present this partner event as part of our IN HARMONY series.  Allen Fitzpatrick wows in this one-hour solo adaptation. \nFor the 5th year in a row\, renowned stage actor Allen Fitzpatrick presents his solo adaptation of Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol.” \n“I was completely absorbed for the entire hour\, and at the end\, very deeply moved.” \nAllen follows in the footsteps of its author who\, a few years after writing the novella\, began public readings of it which he continued to perform until the year of his death. \nThis story has been represented in over a hundred adaptations for stage\, film\, opera\, and radio. In Allen’s version\, audiences have the opportunity to use the full range of their imagination as one actor— on a virtually bare stage— creates 26 different characters. Audiences have been delighted by the personal\, individual impact which this approach affords. \nDickens’ novella captures the zeitgeist of the mid-Victorian revival of the Christmas holiday\, popularizing many aspects of Christmas celebration— including family gatherings\, seasonal food and drink\, dancing\, games\, and a festive generosity of spirit. And it shows the path by which selfish\, acquisitive men may redeem themselves.  Its most important theme\, however— all too relevant today— is to shine a glaring light on mistreatment of the poor. Dickens wrote his novella in response to British social attitudes towards poverty. He was compelled to show the repercussions of ignoring the poor— especially children— in poverty.

Hours: Monday-Saturday 10AM-2PM. \nField Arts & Events Hall is delighted to welcome Sam Grisman back to the Donna M. Morris Theater for a special evening with friends! \nSAM GRISMAN ON HIS PROJECT:\nThe music that my father David Grisman and his close friend\, Jerry Garcia\, made in the early 90s (in the house that I grew up in) is not only some of the most timeless acoustic music ever recorded\, it also triggers my oldest and fondest musical memories. What I find most inspiring about this material is the way their camaraderie and their love and joy for the music\, simply oozes out of each recording. It is also impressive how deeply they get beneath their favorite songs—whether they are originals\, covers or traditional/old time tunes—and how expertly that material was curated. \nMy goal in starting Sam Grisman Project is to build a platform for my friends and me to showcase our genuine passion and appreciation for the legacy of Dawg and Jerry’s music. By playing some of their beloved repertoire and sharing the original music that our own collective has to offer\, we will also show the impact that this music has had on our own individual  musical voices. Ultimately\, there is nothing that makes me happier than playing great songs with my best friends and my hope is to share that happiness with audiences all over! \nOur mission is to make art accessible to everyone. Financial assistance is available for this event through our #fieldhallforall program. Patrons can request a discount of up to 100%. Click here to apply for financial assistance.
