This is just part of the magnificent show offered by THE PEKING ACROBATS® from the People’s Republic of China. \nTHE PEKING ACROBATS return to North American soil for their 35th North American Tour in 2025\, the Chinese Year of the Snake\, which is an ancient symbol of abundance\, spirituality\, good fortune and a strong life force\, or in Chinese\, a person’s “Chi”. Abundance and strength are indeed the watchwords for this incredible show\, as THE PEKING ACROBATS continue to impress audiences with their unique brand of ancient artistry. \nA performance by THE PEKING ACROBATS brings with it the opportunity to experience the epitome of a rich and ancient folk-art tradition with the addition of the pageantry and spectacle of a modern Chinese theatrical circus. It consists of sensational Chinese acrobatics\, comedy\, balancing feats and much more. A truly authentic Oriental spectacular and a show for all ages\, the grace and precision of the acrobats are the triumph of years of dedicated training and discipline. Only the best acrobats find themselves members of an elite world-touring troupe such as THE PEKING ACROBATS. Their tradition has thrived through the centuries\, dating back to the Ch’in Dynasty (221 B.C. – 207 B.C.) and Chinese acrobats have continued to perfect an ever evolving folk art form. Each new movement or action takes many years to practice and perfect\, and tradition demands that each generation of acrobats add their own improvements and embellishments to their acts. It is telling that the Chinese Acrobatic tradition just gets stronger\, due to the  continued innovation of the artists and the endless enthusiasm from their adoring public. \nEach artist in THE PEKING ACROBATS displays a range of demanding performances\, most of them typifying the Chinese Circus\, offering a refreshing alternative to the usual Western traditions of performance. From the dangerous climbing chair stack high above the audience\, about which the New York Times said\, “these acrobats provide feats of circus art that reach breathtaking heights of skill\,” to the gravity defying contortionists and tumblers\, to the spectacular Bicycle Pagoda where multiple performers ride atop a single performer on the bicycle – all this and more completes a marvelous and exciting entertainment event for theatre going “youngsters” from nine to ninety-two…as Variety once raved\, “A is for Acrobat…and astounding…and AMAZING!” \nThey have performed many trail-blazing Symphony Concerts\, combining their unique art form with the traditional Symphony Orchestra in their inspiring performances that have been hailed by the press as “theatrical alchemy at its finest!” Some of these world-famous Symphony Orchestras include the San Francisco Symphony\, the Atlanta Symphony\, the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra\, the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra\, the Buffalo Philharmonic\, the San Diego Symphony\, and the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra. THE PEKING ACROBATS have built a tremendous reputation while performing not only on the cultural stage\, but also on many popular television shows\, including NICKELODEON’S UNFABULOUS\, and ELLEN’S REALLY BIG SHOW\, hosted by Ellen DeGeneres\, among several others.

Hours: Monday-Saturday 10AM-2PM. \n“In ‘BIRDY\,’ the Taiwanese choreographer LAI Hung-chung explores the limits of our desires and our sense of freedom.” – Jade Enaud\, Zone Critique \n“BIRDY\,” a captivating dance piece by LAI Hung-chung\, explores the interplay of freedom and limitations within Taiwan’s communities. LAI delves into the subtle influences of emotions and historical echoes on social harmony through a blend of societal dynamics and personal narratives. \nUsing a cage and dreamer metaphor\, LAI bridges personal struggles with broader societal contexts. The deconstruction of traditional Chinese opera props\, like the spear transformed into a cage-like “Rattan pole\,” symbolizes life’s constraints. \nIncorporating the “Ling Zi” pheasant feathers\, traditionally signifying warrior might\, LAI reinterprets their meaning to empower individuals to redefine their consciousness. This exploration of freedom and self-awareness is visually depicted through the imagery of the “Ling Zi\,” subtly suggesting life’s delicate balance between limitations and aspirations. \nSet to an eclectic mix of electronic and Chinese classical music\, “BIRDY” reinterprets percussion and seamlessly blends Tai-chi with contemporary dance. It portrays the journey from tradition to modernity and conveys a powerful message that in this era\, we can redefine class\, freedom\, and limitations while seeking balance and identity. \nEVENT HIGHLIGHT:Join us in The Sunset Lounge for a special Pre-Show Conversation with Hung Dance Artistic Director Lai Hung-Chung and Field Hall’s Director of Education and Artistic Engagement\, Jessie Young. \nTogether\, they’ll dive into the themes\, imagery\, and creative process behind Hung Dance’s internationally celebrated work Birdy—offering a rare glimpse into the company’s distinctive movement language and artistic vision before the evening’s performance. \nDate: Wednesday\, November 12\nTime: 6–7 PM (before the 7:30 PM performance)\nLength of Program: 1 hour\nABOUT HUNG DANCE\nHUNG DANCE is a Taiwanese contemporary dance company founded in 2017 by artistic director and choreographer LAI Hung-chung. They get the major stamp of approval from my kids!” -CircusTalk \nThrough zany stunts that are executed quite seriously\, the Kif-Kif Sisters’ show gives children the desire to dream\, to experiment\, to be creative\, to put their ideas into motion\, to cultivate curiosity and to picture themselves as adults who continue to play. With its clever mix of humour and imagination\, the show is suitable for all elementary school-aged children. \nAbout Jam Side Up: Flying bunnies\, speeding French fries! This duo fights giant pink monsters\, practices the art of snacking and ensures the triumph of the umbilical cord. The Kif-Kif Sisters mix surprising comedy and audience interaction with enough joyfulness to make vegetables explode! Inseparable since the womb\, these twin sisters have been performing all over the world for over a decade. \nFun Fact: “Kif-Kif” is a French expression that means “fifty-fifty” or “all the same”.

In this show\, audience members will be transported to a distant and dark future. In a world where machines have taken over and humanity has regressed\, we follow two young guardians of the last natural life—a seed.
