SUMMARY:The Flying Karamozov Brothers: Artifishal Idiots
DESCRIPTION:Field Hall Presents: Artifishal Idiots: A New Theatre Experience by The Flying Karamazov Brothers\nFriday\, February 20th @ 6:30PM | Donna M. Morris Theater\n*Tickets $25-$45 Adult\, $22 Youth | Financial assistance available – click here to apply\n*Our ticketing platform Ludus charges a 5% service fee for all credit card transactions. To avoid this fee\, visit our Box Office at 201 W. Front Street and pay via cash or check. Hours: Monday-Saturday 10AM-2PM. \n“Any competent juggler can defy gravity. Only the Karamazovs can make light of it.” – The Seattle Times \nArtifishal Idiots is a hilarious\, provocative\, awe-inspiring exploration of humanity in the age of AI. \nLegendary for more than five decades of boundary-pushing physical comedy\, virtuosic juggling\, and sharp social commentary\, The Flying Karamazov Brothers return with an entirely new theatrical work. Artifishal Idiots is a bold\, funny\, and unsettling exploration of artificial intelligence—and what it means to be human. \nSet in a not-too-distant future where flesh-and-blood humans may no longer exist\, Artifishal Idiots fuses high-level juggling\, music\, and live performance with AI-generated visuals and hallucinatory projections across three massive screens. The result is a one-of-a-kind theatrical experience that delivers nonstop laughter alongside jaw-dropping physical feats. \n\n\n\n\n\nAt the heart of the work is a deceptively simple idea: what can machines never replace? The answer unfolds through juggling\, an art form defined by risk\, imperfection\, and inevitable failure. Gravity always wins\, and in that failure\, the show finds something profoundly human. \nCreated and performed by Paul Magid (Dmitri Karamazov) alongside collaborators Chen Pollina and Tomoki Sage of the ensemble NANDA\, the production reflects the Karamazovs’ tradition of building everything in-house\, from choreography and performance to visuals\, design\, and conceptual world-building. AI-driven imagery inspired by psychedelic 1960s light shows collides with blisteringly fast\, intricate juggling to create moments of beauty\, chaos\, and surprise. \nEqual parts comedy\, spectacle\, and cautionary tale\, Artifishal Idiots is theatre that can only be experienced live. \n“When the Karamazovs magically make juggling look like a dance routine or sound like a jazz jam session\, their act really flies.” – The New York Times \n“They juggle till they drop\, then keep on juggling!” – Time Out New York \nOur mission is to make art accessible to everyone. Financial assistance is available for this event through our #fieldhallforall program. Patrons can request a discount of up to 100%. Click here to apply for financial assistance.

Abundance and strength are indeed the watchwords for this incredible show\, as THE PEKING ACROBATS continue to impress audiences with their unique brand of ancient artistry. \nA performance by THE PEKING ACROBATS brings with it the opportunity to experience the epitome of a rich and ancient folk-art tradition with the addition of the pageantry and spectacle of a modern Chinese theatrical circus. It consists of sensational Chinese acrobatics\, comedy\, balancing feats and much more. A truly authentic Oriental spectacular and a show for all ages\, the grace and precision of the acrobats are the triumph of years of dedicated training and discipline. Only the best acrobats find themselves members of an elite world-touring troupe such as THE PEKING ACROBATS. Their tradition has thrived through the centuries\, dating back to the Ch’in Dynasty (221 B.C. – 207 B.C.) and Chinese acrobats have continued to perfect an ever evolving folk art form. Each new movement or action takes many years to practice and perfect\, and tradition demands that each generation of acrobats add their own improvements and embellishments to their acts. It is telling that the Chinese Acrobatic tradition just gets stronger\, due to the  continued innovation of the artists and the endless enthusiasm from their adoring public. \nEach artist in THE PEKING ACROBATS displays a range of demanding performances\, most of them typifying the Chinese Circus\, offering a refreshing alternative to the usual Western traditions of performance. From the dangerous climbing chair stack high above the audience\, about which the New York Times said\, “these acrobats provide feats of circus art that reach breathtaking heights of skill\,” to the gravity defying contortionists and tumblers\, to the spectacular Bicycle Pagoda where multiple performers ride atop a single performer on the bicycle – all this and more completes a marvelous and exciting entertainment event for theatre going “youngsters” from nine to ninety-two…as Variety once raved\, “A is for Acrobat…and astounding…and AMAZING!” \nThey have performed many trail-blazing Symphony Concerts\, combining their unique art form with the traditional Symphony Orchestra in their inspiring performances that have been hailed by the press as “theatrical alchemy at its finest!” Some of these world-famous Symphony Orchestras include the San Francisco Symphony\, the Atlanta Symphony\, the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra\, the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra\, the Buffalo Philharmonic\, the San Diego Symphony\, and the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra. THE PEKING ACROBATS have built a tremendous reputation while performing not only on the cultural stage\, but also on many popular television shows\, including NICKELODEON’S UNFABULOUS\, and ELLEN’S REALLY BIG SHOW\, hosted by Ellen DeGeneres\, among several others.

SUMMARY:A Christmas Carol: A JFFA In Harmony event
DESCRIPTION:Presented in partnership with Juan de Fuca Foundation for the Arts\nA Christmas Carol: A JFFA In Harmony event \nWednesday\, December 17th @ 7PM | Donna M. Morris Theater\nTickets $22 – $28  CLICK HERE FOR TICKETS \nJFFA and Field Hall are proud to present this partner event as part of our IN HARMONY series.  Allen Fitzpatrick wows in this one-hour solo adaptation. \nFor the 5th year in a row\, renowned stage actor Allen Fitzpatrick presents his solo adaptation of Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol.” \n“I was completely absorbed for the entire hour\, and at the end\, very deeply moved.” \nAllen follows in the footsteps of its author who\, a few years after writing the novella\, began public readings of it which he continued to perform until the year of his death. \nThis story has been represented in over a hundred adaptations for stage\, film\, opera\, and radio. In Allen’s version\, audiences have the opportunity to use the full range of their imagination as one actor— on a virtually bare stage— creates 26 different characters. Audiences have been delighted by the personal\, individual impact which this approach affords. \nDickens’ novella captures the zeitgeist of the mid-Victorian revival of the Christmas holiday\, popularizing many aspects of Christmas celebration— including family gatherings\, seasonal food and drink\, dancing\, games\, and a festive generosity of spirit. And it shows the path by which selfish\, acquisitive men may redeem themselves.  Its most important theme\, however— all too relevant today— is to shine a glaring light on mistreatment of the poor. Dickens wrote his novella in response to British social attitudes towards poverty. He was compelled to show the repercussions of ignoring the poor— especially children— in poverty.

Hours: Monday-Saturday 10AM-2PM. \n“In ‘BIRDY\,’ the Taiwanese choreographer LAI Hung-chung explores the limits of our desires and our sense of freedom.” – Jade Enaud\, Zone Critique \n“BIRDY\,” a captivating dance piece by LAI Hung-chung\, explores the interplay of freedom and limitations within Taiwan’s communities. LAI delves into the subtle influences of emotions and historical echoes on social harmony through a blend of societal dynamics and personal narratives. \nUsing a cage and dreamer metaphor\, LAI bridges personal struggles with broader societal contexts. The deconstruction of traditional Chinese opera props\, like the spear transformed into a cage-like “Rattan pole\,” symbolizes life’s constraints. \nIncorporating the “Ling Zi” pheasant feathers\, traditionally signifying warrior might\, LAI reinterprets their meaning to empower individuals to redefine their consciousness. This exploration of freedom and self-awareness is visually depicted through the imagery of the “Ling Zi\,” subtly suggesting life’s delicate balance between limitations and aspirations. \nSet to an eclectic mix of electronic and Chinese classical music\, “BIRDY” reinterprets percussion and seamlessly blends Tai-chi with contemporary dance. It portrays the journey from tradition to modernity and conveys a powerful message that in this era\, we can redefine class\, freedom\, and limitations while seeking balance and identity. \nEVENT HIGHLIGHT:Join us in The Sunset Lounge for a special Pre-Show Conversation with Hung Dance Artistic Director Lai Hung-Chung and Field Hall’s Director of Education and Artistic Engagement\, Jessie Young. \nTogether\, they’ll dive into the themes\, imagery\, and creative process behind Hung Dance’s internationally celebrated work Birdy—offering a rare glimpse into the company’s distinctive movement language and artistic vision before the evening’s performance. \nDate: Wednesday\, November 12\nTime: 6–7 PM (before the 7:30 PM performance)\nLength of Program: 1 hour\nABOUT HUNG DANCE\nHUNG DANCE is a Taiwanese contemporary dance company founded in 2017 by artistic director and choreographer LAI Hung-chung. SUMMARY:Films @ Field Hall: This is Spinal Tap
DESCRIPTION:Field Hall Presents: Films @ Field Hall: This is Spinal Tap\nThursday\, October 9 @ 7PM | Donna M. Morris Theater\nPay-what-makes-you-happy! DONATIONS APPRECIATED\nOur rock-themed fall film series continues with the ultimate metal movie: This is Spinal Tap! We encourage you to dress up in your best 80s or hair-metal band inspired look and rock out with us for an evening that’s turned all the way up to eleven. \nThe mockumentary comedy by Rob Reiner\, Christopher Guest\, Michael McKean\, and Harry Shearer\, This Is Spinal Tap chronicles England’s loudest and most punctual band on their disaster-filled U.S. tour. \nThis Is Spinal Tap was released to critical acclaim in 1984 and went on to become a cult classic. In 2002\, it was deemed “culturally\, historically\, and aesthetically significant” by the Library of Congress\, and was selected for preservation by the National Film Registry. \nThis Is Spinal Tap has been credited with launching the mockumentary genre. The film shines a light on the self-contained universe of a metal band struggling to get back on the charts\, including everything from its complicated history of ups and downs\, gold albums\, name changes and undersold concert dates\, along with the full host of requisite groupies\, promoters\, hangers-on and historians\, sessions\, release events and those special behind-the-scenes moments that keep it all real. This screening is hosted in celebration of the release of Spinal Tap II: The End Continues\, scheduled for theatrical release September 12th. \nDoors open at 5PM; food and drink available for purchase through the Sunset Bar & Lounge.

These songs are just what the world needs right now.” – Minnesota Parent \nField Hall welcomes you and your family to enjoy an evening of GRAMMY-winning folk and roots music as performed by the infectiously positive duo\, The Okee Dokee Brothers. \nAs childhood friends growing up outside of Denver\, Colorado\, Justin Lansing and Joe Mailander were always exploring the outdoors. They channeled their adventurous nature into their wildly popular albums – Can You Canoe?\, Through The Woods\, Saddle Up\, Winterland\, and Songs For Singin’ – and ended up in the hearts of American families everywhere. They’ve inspired countless\, plaid-shirted fans to get outside\, get creative\, and sing in harmony along the way. \nTheir most recent effort\, Brambletown\, is a full-length feature now available on PBS Kids that wanders deep into the forest of imagination and features the cut-paper animation of Eric Power. Joe and Justin spent time writing songs about a community of critters who are grappling with disconnection and restoring interconnection through the healing power of nature. Their gorgeous melodies and unfussy lyrics ease listeners through these woods on a path that is both ancient and reborn. \nThe five-time Parents’ Choice Award winners have been celebrated by Outside Magazine\, garnered praise from the likes of NPR’s All Things Considered and USA Today\, and have been called “two of family music’s best songwriters.” \nOur mission is to make art accessible to everyone. Financial assistance is available for this event through our #fieldhallforall program. Patrons can request a discount of up to 100%. Click here to apply for financial assistance.
