SUMMARY:Second Saturday Art Walk: Silk Painting Demonstration
DESCRIPTION:Join fiber artist Evette Allerdings for a vibrant drop-in silk kerchief painting experience! Create your own unique 10×10-inch masterpiece using luxurious silk fabric and a variety of colorful nontoxic paints. No prior experience needed—just bring your creativity and enjoy a fun\, hands-on session of artistic expression guided by Evette’s expert tips and inspiring techniques. Materials are provided and there is no cost to participate. \nThis is a drop-in Artwalk experience; no RSVP or registration is required. The Waterfront Coffee Bar at Field Hall will be open from 5-8PM during Second Saturday Artwalk. \nField Hall is excited to be a part of Port Angeles Second Saturday Artwalk. To see all participating galleries and locations\, visit https://www.portangelesartscouncil.org \nEvette Allerdings is currently featured in the Field Hall Gallery exhibit COLORS OF NATURE. For more information visit www.fieldhallevents.org/gallery \nABOUT THE ARTIST\nEvette Allerdings was taught to sew by her mother when she was eight. She began sewing her clothes as well as clothes for her various Barbie and Ken dolls. Every summer she and several of her friends that lived on the same block put on fashion shows for the neighborhood until she went to middle school. \nAt age 13 she saw a high school production of Don Quixote and dreamed of being a costumer. Too shy to get involved in the theater\, she often walked by the high school drama class peeking in the door but not having the courage to walk in. She graduated with a BS in Fashion Design from the University of Hawaii but chose to become a medical assistant for her lifetime career. In her mid-30’s she finally took a theater course at her local community college and later became a costumer at Windward Community College for 27 years. Winning multiple awards for best costumer\, the last being for Phantom of the Opera. \nAs a costumer\, Evette was often frustrated in her search for the perfect fabric and yearned to design her own. This led her to silk painting and she now uses silk painting to express herself. Yearning to sew again\, her next challenge will be incorporating her silk paintings into garments. \nEvette won First Price in the 2D division for last year’s Silk Painter’s International competition for her painting Solace. She has participated in recent exhibitions in Washington\, and you can see some of her continuing work in the Fiber Habit window in Port Townsend.

SUMMARY:Open Mic Mondays hosted by Bread & Gravy Duo
DESCRIPTION:Field Arts & Events Hall welcomes you to share your talent on our Sunset Lounge stage! Join us for Open Mic Mondays in the Sunset Lounge\, hosted by Bread & Gravy Duo. \nThe Sunset Bar & Lounge opens to the public at 5PM and will serve dinner and drinks throughout the event. Signup for open mic begins at 6PM; open mic starts at 6:30PM. This is a free\, all-ages event – no RSVP or ticket required. Click here to read all open mic rules. \nABOUT BREAD & GRAVY\nBread & Gravy Duo is a popular husband and wife act (Stephanie and Jess Doenges) who perform songs across many styles and genres. They feature powerful female vocals\, eclectic piano\, rhythm guitar\, and the occasional flute and harmonica. They have hosted or cohosted many Open Mics on the peninsula\, including ‘Open Mic at the Buzz’\, ‘The Junction Open Jam’\, ‘The Rainshadow Open Mic’\, and most recently at ‘Open Mic at the Sit-N-Bull’. They often play as a bigger band\, adding steady stalwarts such as Jerry Gilleland (drums) and Jason Taylor (bass and harmonies) and have also collaborated with dozens of other local musicians\, so one never knows who will come sit in with them on a given night. Follow @breadandgravymusic for more. \nSTEPHANIE DOENGES (SOUND)\nStephanie is one of the most established and recognized musicians on the peninsula. She has been playing music since a young age\, and has been in local bands such as Restless\, Luck of the Draw\, Rolling Waters\, and the Cornstalks. For the past twelve years\, she has been the face and voice of Bread and Gravy in all of its formations. While her voice is a main draw\, and guitar is her most common instrument\, she often surprises and astounds with riveting flute and harmonica solos. \nStephanie has run sound for Open Mics for many years now\, and she’s grown very adept at dialing people in quickly\, as well as tailoring the sound to any nuance the performer displays. \nJESS DOENGES (MC)\nJess is the quintessential late bloomer\, who didn’t touch a musical instrument until age 29. Bread & Gravy is the first and only band he’s ever been in. In juxtaposition to the versatile Stephanie\, he’s a one trick pony on the piano. But his love for piano\, and his love for Stephanie shows through in his playing\, and he has truly played himself into one of the top accompanists around. As an MC\, he has tons of experience herding cats (err.. musicians) to make the Open Mic experience enjoyable and fair for all involved. His quick wit and inviting vibe tend to make the audience comfortable and relaxed\, which is what is needed to have a supportive environment for all performers.
