Hours: Monday-Saturday 10AM-2PM. \nField Arts & Events Hall is delighted to welcome Sam Grisman back to the Donna M. Morris Theater for a special evening with friends! \nSAM GRISMAN ON HIS PROJECT:\nThe music that my father David Grisman and his close friend\, Jerry Garcia\, made in the early 90s (in the house that I grew up in) is not only some of the most timeless acoustic music ever recorded\, it also triggers my oldest and fondest musical memories. What I find most inspiring about this material is the way their camaraderie and their love and joy for the music\, simply oozes out of each recording. It is also impressive how deeply they get beneath their favorite songs—whether they are originals\, covers or traditional/old time tunes—and how expertly that material was curated. \nMy goal in starting Sam Grisman Project is to build a platform for my friends and me to showcase our genuine passion and appreciation for the legacy of Dawg and Jerry’s music. By playing some of their beloved repertoire and sharing the original music that our own collective has to offer\, we will also show the impact that this music has had on our own individual  musical voices. Ultimately\, there is nothing that makes me happier than playing great songs with my best friends and my hope is to share that happiness with audiences all over! \nOur mission is to make art accessible to everyone. SUMMARY:A Christmas Carol: A JFFA In Harmony event
DESCRIPTION:Presented in partnership with Juan de Fuca Foundation for the Arts\nA Christmas Carol: A JFFA In Harmony event \nWednesday\, December 17th @ 7PM | Donna M. Morris Theater\nTickets $22 – $28  CLICK HERE FOR TICKETS \nJFFA and Field Hall are proud to present this partner event as part of our IN HARMONY series.  Allen Fitzpatrick wows in this one-hour solo adaptation. \nFor the 5th year in a row\, renowned stage actor Allen Fitzpatrick presents his solo adaptation of Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol.” \n“I was completely absorbed for the entire hour\, and at the end\, very deeply moved.” \nAllen follows in the footsteps of its author who\, a few years after writing the novella\, began public readings of it which he continued to perform until the year of his death. \nThis story has been represented in over a hundred adaptations for stage\, film\, opera\, and radio. In Allen’s version\, audiences have the opportunity to use the full range of their imagination as one actor— on a virtually bare stage— creates 26 different characters. Audiences have been delighted by the personal\, individual impact which this approach affords. \nDickens’ novella captures the zeitgeist of the mid-Victorian revival of the Christmas holiday\, popularizing many aspects of Christmas celebration— including family gatherings\, seasonal food and drink\, dancing\, games\, and a festive generosity of spirit. And it shows the path by which selfish\, acquisitive men may redeem themselves.  Its most important theme\, however— all too relevant today— is to shine a glaring light on mistreatment of the poor. Dickens wrote his novella in response to British social attitudes towards poverty. He was compelled to show the repercussions of ignoring the poor— especially children— in poverty.

SUMMARY:Las Cafeteras: Dia de Los Muertos Concert with repertoire from Hasta La Muerte
DESCRIPTION:Field Hall & Peninsula Behavioral Health Present: Las Cafeteras\, Dia de Los Muertos Concert with repertoire from Hasta La Muerte\nThursday\, November 6 @ 7:30PM | Donna M. Morris Theater\n*Tickets $25-$35 Adult\, $18 Youth | Financial assistance available – click here to apply\n*Our ticketing platform Ludus charges a 5% service fee for all credit card transactions. Hours: Monday-Saturday 10AM-2PM. \n“Urgent\, relevant music\,” – BBC  \nLas Cafeteras returns to Field Arts & Events Hall for a Dia de Los Muertos concert with repertoire from Hasta La Muerte\, an enthralling new production celebrating Life and Death\, in the spirit of the Indigenous/Mexican practice\, known as Day of the Dead. \nThis theatrical concert explores the stages of grief and loss through the celebration of life and death. The production revisits Mexican folklore to tell new stories\, engage old archetypes\, challenge patriarchy\, uplift the role of curanderas and re-examine our imagination about “death” and the “after-life.” \nEmbrace the power of storytelling as a form of processing grief and sharing love with those in the beyond. Love\, not sadness\, allows us to celebrate and remember those that have gone and remember that “death is not the end\, it is just the beginning.” \nABOUT LAS CAFETERAS\nLas Cafeteras have taken the music scene by storm with their infectious live performances and have crossed many genres and borders along the way. Their electric sound & energy has taken them around the world playing shows from Bonnaroo to the Hollywood Bowl\, WOMAD New Zealand to Montreal Jazz\, & beyond! \nBorn and raised East of the Los Angeles River\, Las Cafeteras are remixing roots music as modern day troubadours.  They are a sonic explosion of Afro-Mexican rhythms\, electronic beats and powerful rhymes that document stories of a community seeking to ‘build a world where many world fit.’ \nFrom Afro-Mexican to Americana\, from Soul to Son Jarocho\, from Roots to Rock and Hip Hop\, Las Cafeteras take folk music to the future. \nLas Cafeteras honor the past by using electrifying traditional instrumentation like the 8 string Jarana\, 4 string Requinto\, Quijada (donkey jawbone) and Tarima (a wooden platform). Las Cafeteras sing in 5 distinct languages\, English\, Spanish\, Spanglish\, Love and Justice … and they believe everyone understands at least one of those languages. \nThey’ve performed in the good company of Mexican icons Café Tacuba\, Natalia LaFourcade\, Lila Downs\, Gypsy Kings\, Colombian superstar Juanes\, Hip Hop artist Common\, Los Angeles legends Ozomatli and Los Lobos\, performing with the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra\, and many more. \nOur mission is to make art accessible to everyone. SUMMARY:TAE & The Neighborly
DESCRIPTION:Field Hall Presents: TAE & The Neighborly\nWednesday\, September 24 @ 7PM | Sunset Lounge Dance Party\n*Tickets $20\, General Admission | Financial assistance available – click here to apply\n*Our ticketing platform Ludus charges a 5% service fee for all credit card transactions. To avoid this fee\, visit our Box Office at 201 W. Front Street and pay via cash or check. Hours: Monday-Saturday 10AM-2PM. \nCelebrate the start of fall with one final summer-style dance party and happy hour in the Sunset Lounge! This general admission event will offer a dance floor with plenty of room to boogie\, and Happy Hour specials from 5PM – 6:30PM before the music starts. \nTAE & The Neighborly\, a Wisconsin based Soul-pop R&B group\, found themselves playing music together in a very unconventional way. \nThey were all neighbors\, each one living alone on one floor of a five-story flat. Cake baking is a shared passion of the five member group\, but in the sugar shortages early in the 2020 pandemic\, they found themselves so continually knocking on each other’s doors asking for a single cup of sugar that a group decision was made to all move in together and share cake-baking resources. And since everyone knows all good rhythms begin in the kitchen\, it wasn’t before long that the group began to write and perform together  across the nation. \nCritics hail the group as “having more kick than a bagged-up mule” (Rotary Times)  and their live show “…going down smoother than a can of [beans] warmed on the campfire” (Cowboy Gazette). All in all\, if you are looking for a dense show that will give you more inspiration fuel for self lovin’\, world changin’\, and consideration havin’ meet them where the music is made to be shared. \nOur mission is to make art accessible to everyone.
