SUMMARY:Comedy Night in the Sunset Lounge
DESCRIPTION:August 3 @ 8PM | Comedy Night in the Sunset Lounge\nSunset Lounge opens to ticket holders starting at 6PM\n$28 Standard\, $125 VIP Table (seats 4)\, CLICK HERE FOR TICKETS \nIt’s Comedy Night in the Sunset Lounge! Enjoy a taste of our seasonal food and drink menu as well as stunning views from the waterfront Sunset Lounge and a hilarious night of standup comedy. \nProducer and host Drew Wilson-McGrath selected a couple of his favorite comics for this summer comedy night at Field Hall. Bring a friend and share a laugh with two PNW comedians; David Kildal and the one and only Kermit Apio!   \nFood and drink served; choose between a $28 general admission ticket or share a VIP table for four for $125. This event is 21+   \n   \nHeadliner: Kermet Apio (Watch on YouTube)\nBorn and raised in Honolulu\, Hawaii\, Kermet Apio enjoyed a childhood in paradise. He spent his time watching television\, playing\, and procrastinating everything else. To this day\, he still does all three extensively.  \nAfter graduating from high school\, Kermet moved to Seattle to attend the University of Washington. Seattle became home. In early 1989\, Kermet did his first open mike night at the Comedy Underground in Seattle. Comedy was a fun hobby. In May of 1990\, he quit his job\, said good bye to health care and benefits\, and took the leap to performing full time. It is still his only job skill.  \nHe was the winner of the 2009 Great American Comedy Festival and has had numerous appearances on television and radio. He has showcased at comedy festivals in Aspen\, Las Vegas\, and Vancouver and has performed in 47 states and 3 Canadian provinces. He is a past winner of the Seattle Comedy Competition and was a semi-finalist in the San Francisco Comedy Competition. Also\, in 1988 he was Dishwasher of the Month at the Sea-Tac Airport Denny’s.  \nKermet is married and the proud father of two wonderful children. He enjoys his family\, baseball\, and pie. He does not enjoy opera\, sitting in traffic\, and writing about himself in the third person.  \n  \nFeature: David Kildal (Watch on YouTube)\nDavid is a Portland\, OR-based standup comedian. A native of both Southern Oregon and Southern Ohio\, he is well versed in making light of the unexciting. His style has been described as “chill\, yet spicy\, like a leftover chicken wing.” – but the reality is that his dry\, introspective sense of humor has been charming audiences for years. David is a regular at Helium Comedy Club in Portland\, and hosts the Five Star Review podcast and the Hot Bits! Comedy showcase. You’re going to love what he brings to the table!  \n

SUMMARY:Ten Years After: A Photo-Journey of the Elwha
DESCRIPTION:August 5 @ 6PM | Ten Years After: A Photo Journey of the Elwha\nBook Release Event with John Gussman\nSunset Bar & Lounge open 5PM – 9PM\nClick here to RSVP for this event \nJoin Field Hall and local photographer John Gussman for a book release event and First Fed Community Conversation surrounding his new book\, Ten Years After. \nTen Years After showcases the changes on the Elwha River during dam removal. At the time (2010 to 2014)\, the removal of two working dams was the largest dam removal in history. August 26\, 2024\, marks ten years since the completion of dam removal. The hand-picked images in this book came from the thousands of images that John Gussman photographed during that time period. The book includes many photos not previously published. Ten Years After contains 60 pages of full-color photographs in 8.5″ x 11″ soft cover format. Order your copy and own a part of history. John will hand sign every book sold at this event. \nThis event will take place in the Sunset Lounge. Space is limited; please RSVP.  \nABOUT THE ARTIST\nAfter getting a degree in photography\, John Gussman began working full time in 1973 as a staff photographer for a newspaper in the bay area. Moving to Washington State in 1979 to be closer to wilderness\, and with Olympic National Park as his backyard\, he began to photograph this new natural playground. \nIn 1982 John began his own business\, Doubleclick Productions\, and found he had a natural talent for photographing architecture and other commercial location work. It was consistent work to pay the bills\, always an important factor to the self employed. After doing that for over three decades\, John has come full circle in his career and now focuses most of his attention capturing landscapes\, people and adventure\, wildlife\, and the outdoor lifestyle. John has an extensive collection of stock images and video centered around the Olympic Peninsula as well as other geographic areas. With his intimate knowledge of the Olympic Peninsula natural environment\, he provides location services for commercial clients looking to film in the area. \nAlways looking for ways to push the boundaries for new perspectives\, John has worked since 2015 using UAV drones for both stills and video\, as well as aerial mapping work. He is FAA licensed and is insured to fly any commercial application for clients. \nWorking locally and abroad\, John is actively doing projects to help tell the stories of companies\, non-profits\, and environmental organizations to help tell the story of the planet.

SUMMARY:Open Mic Mondays hosted by Bread & Gravy Duo
DESCRIPTION:Field Arts & Events Hall welcomes you to share your talent on our Sunset Lounge stage! Join us for Open Mic Mondays in the Sunset Lounge\, hosted by Bread & Gravy Duo. \nThe Sunset Bar & Lounge opens to the public at 5PM and will serve dinner and drinks throughout the event. Signup for open mic begins at 6PM; open mic starts at 6:30PM. This is a free\, all-ages event – no RSVP or ticket required. Click here to read all open mic rules. \nABOUT BREAD & GRAVY\nBread & Gravy Duo is a popular husband and wife act (Stephanie and Jess Doenges) who perform songs across many styles and genres. They feature powerful female vocals\, eclectic piano\, rhythm guitar\, and the occasional flute and harmonica. They have hosted or cohosted many Open Mics on the peninsula\, including ‘Open Mic at the Buzz’\, ‘The Junction Open Jam’\, ‘The Rainshadow Open Mic’\, and most recently at ‘Open Mic at the Sit-N-Bull’. They often play as a bigger band\, adding steady stalwarts such as Jerry Gilleland (drums) and Jason Taylor (bass and harmonies) and have also collaborated with dozens of other local musicians\, so one never knows who will come sit in with them on a given night. Follow @breadandgravymusic for more. \nSTEPHANIE DOENGES (SOUND)\nStephanie is one of the most established and recognized musicians on the peninsula. She has been playing music since a young age\, and has been in local bands such as Restless\, Luck of the Draw\, Rolling Waters\, and the Cornstalks. For the past twelve years\, she has been the face and voice of Bread and Gravy in all of its formations. While her voice is a main draw\, and guitar is her most common instrument\, she often surprises and astounds with riveting flute and harmonica solos. \nStephanie has run sound for Open Mics for many years now\, and she’s grown very adept at dialing people in quickly\, as well as tailoring the sound to any nuance the performer displays. \nJESS DOENGES (MC)\nJess is the quintessential late bloomer\, who didn’t touch a musical instrument until age 29. Bread & Gravy is the first and only band he’s ever been in. In juxtaposition to the versatile Stephanie\, he’s a one trick pony on the piano. But his love for piano\, and his love for Stephanie shows through in his playing\, and he has truly played himself into one of the top accompanists around. As an MC\, he has tons of experience herding cats (err.. musicians) to make the Open Mic experience enjoyable and fair for all involved. His quick wit and inviting vibe tend to make the audience comfortable and relaxed\, which is what is needed to have a supportive environment for all performers.

SUMMARY:Stillhouse Junkies
DESCRIPTION:Field Hall Presents: Stillhouse Junkies\nSeptember 6 @ 7:30PM | Donna M. Morris Theater at Field Hall \nSunset Bar & Lounge opens at 5PM\nTickets $28 Adult\, $15 Youth\, CLICK HERE FOR TICKETS \nStillhouse Junkies\, a charmed trio from the hills of Colorado\, have offered up a hypnotic and high-energy form of roots music anchored in the freeflowing interplay among the three lifelong musicians (Fred Kosak on guitar and mandolin\, Matt Thomas on upright bass\, Alissa Wolf on fiddle).  (Listen to Stillhouse Junkies on Spotify) \nWhile they’ve gained major traction in the bluegrass world in recent years—including winning the IBMA Momentum Band of the Year award in 2021— Stillhouse Junkies ultimately inhabit a genre-blurring and subtly inventive sound informed by everything from blues to classical to Texas swing. When matched with their nuanced songcraft and soul-stirring harmonies\, the result is a one-of-a-kind musical experience that immediately transports the listener into a more enchanted state of mind. \n \nABOUT THE ARTISTS (www.stillhousejunkies.com) \nFounded not long after Kosak moved to Durango from his native New England\, Stillhouse Junkies got their start playing a weekly residency at a local distillery and quickly drew a dedicated following on the strength of their unforgettable live show. Although all three members had established careers in other fields\, they soon devoted themselves full-time to the band and delivered their debut album in 2018\, then embarked on their first national tour the following year. \nAs they earned an evergrowing number of accolades\, Stillhouse Junkies built up a repertoire of original songs by tapping into their eclectic sensibilities. Their third full-length and first release for Dark Shadow Recording\, 2022’s Small Towns\, perfectly encapsulates what makes their music so spellbinding\, presenting a richly detailed selection of songs that often use the wildly colorful mythology of the American West to explore complex questions of the human heart. \nWith their fourth album due out in 2025\, Stillhouse Junkies have now achieved such triumphs as touring in the UK and Europe and taking the stage at leading festivals like MerleFest and Grey Fox. Whether they’re performing at house concerts or playing to crowds of thousands\, the band balances the dizzying intricacy of their musicality with plenty of freewheeling improvisation. And at the heart of their musical connection is an easy camaraderie made even more powerful by the intimacy of their lineup. \n“There’s a cool dynamic to the trio that we’ve really embraced over the years\,” Kosak points out. “We all believe that the triangle is the strongest shape.” “One of our favorite things we hear after shows is that we have such a big\, full sound for just three people\,” Wolf adds. “We always just try to bring a lot of joy to everything we do and give the audience something they can’t even describe. We want to leave them wondering\, ‘Wow\, what was that?’”

However\, her passion for art has never waned\, and she has continued to develop her skills in watercolor\, mixed media\, in fiber and fabric art. \nHer work often centers around nature and its various forms\, which she enjoys adopting as themes in my creations. She uses vibrant colors and textures to create pieces that are both varied and visually engaging. Despite her years of experience\, she is always striving to improve her knowledge of visual arts techniques. Her goal is to continue learning and growing as an artist\, so that she may continue to express herself in new and exciting ways. \nOverall\, her work reflects her love of all arts and her admiration for the beauty of nature.
