Morris Theater\nTickets $25-$55  CLICK HERE FOR TICKETS \nHailed as “among the most gifted musicians of his generation” with a “dazzling natural keyboard affinity” who “made quite an impression” by the Washington Post\, American pianist\, composer\, and improviser Charlie Albright has been praised for his “jaw-dropping technique and virtuosity meshed with a distinctive musicality” by The New York Times\, and his “extravagance that had showmanship but never felt cheap” with his “ease and smoothness that refuses to airbrush the music\, but animates it from within” by the Philadelphia Inquirer. \nRecipient of the prestigious Avery Fisher Career Grant and Gilmore Young Artist Award\, Albright won the Ruhr Klavier Festival Young Artist Award presented by Marc-André Hamelin (Germany) and the Young Concert Artists International Auditions.  His debut commercial recording\, Vivace\, has sold thousands of copies worldwide and the first two parts of a 3-part Schubert Series of live\, all-Schubert recordings was released in 2017 and 2020. Charlie Albright breaks the “classical” rules of music by connecting with audiences like no other. Through his music\, speaking\, and unique improvisations that bring music to life\, he crosses all genres…and makes it fun. \nAlbright’s compositions and improvisations have been likened to “the great Romantic-era composer-pianists” by Classical Source and have been praised as “thrilling” by the DC Metro Theatre Arts.  The Philadelphia Inquirer raved that he “brought the art of classical-music improvisation to a new level.”  The Boston Musical Intelligencer wrote simply that “Albright is a master of improvisation.”  \nField Arts & Events Hall\, the Field Hall Gallery\, and the upstairs Sunset Bar & Lounge will open at 12:30PM on Sunday\, April 6th. Food and drink will be available for purchase in the Sunset Bar & Lounge prior to the start of the show and to pre-order for intermission. Theater doors will open at 1:30PM for the 2PM performance. This event is appropriate for audiences of all ages.

SUMMARY:Open Mic Mondays hosted by Bread & Gravy Duo
DESCRIPTION:Field Arts & Events Hall welcomes you to share your talent on our Sunset Lounge stage! Join us for Open Mic Mondays in the Sunset Lounge\, hosted by Bread & Gravy Duo. \nThe Sunset Bar & Lounge opens to the public at 5PM and will serve small bites and drinks throughout the event. Signup for open mic begins at 6PM; open mic starts at 6:15PM. This is a free\, all-ages event – no RSVP or ticket required. \nABOUT BREAD & GRAVY\nBread & Gravy Duo is a popular husband and wife act (Stephanie and Jess Doenges) who perform songs across many styles and genres. They feature powerful female vocals\, eclectic piano\, rhythm guitar\, and the occasional flute and harmonica. They have hosted or cohosted many Open Mics on the peninsula\, including ‘Open Mic at the Buzz’\, ‘The Junction Open Jam’\, ‘The Rainshadow Open Mic’\, and most recently at ‘Open Mic at the Sit-N-Bull’. They often play as a bigger band\, adding steady stalwarts such as Jerry Gilleland (drums) and Jason Taylor (bass and harmonies) and have also collaborated with dozens of other local musicians\, so one never knows who will come sit in with them on a given night. Follow @breadandgravymusic for more. \nSTEPHANIE DOENGES (SOUND)\nStephanie is one of the most established and recognized musicians on the peninsula. She has been playing music since a young age\, and has been in local bands such as Restless\, Luck of the Draw\, Rolling Waters\, and the Cornstalks. For the past twelve years\, she has been the face and voice of Bread and Gravy in all of its formations. While her voice is a main draw\, and guitar is her most common instrument\, she often surprises and astounds with riveting flute and harmonica solos. \nStephanie has run sound for Open Mics for many years now\, and she’s grown very adept at dialing people in quickly\, as well as tailoring the sound to any nuance the performer displays. \nJESS DOENGES (MC)\nJess is the quintessential late bloomer\, who didn’t touch a musical instrument until age 29. Bread & Gravy is the first and only band he’s ever been in. In juxtaposition to the versatile Stephanie\, he’s a one trick pony on the piano. But his love for piano\, and his love for Stephanie shows through in his playing\, and he has truly played himself into one of the top accompanists around. As an MC\, he has tons of experience herding cats (err.. musicians) to make the Open Mic experience enjoyable and fair for all involved. His quick wit and inviting vibe tend to make the audience comfortable and relaxed\, which is what is needed to have a supportive environment for all performers.

SUMMARY:Cooksey Gallery Exhibit Opening: VOYAGES MONOCHROMATIQUES "MONOCHROMATIC JOURNEYS"
DESCRIPTION:Field Hall Gallery Exhibit Opening: VOYAGES MONOCHROMATIQUES “MONOCHROMATIC JOURNEYS”\nOpening on April 15th @ 5PM | On Display April 15 – June 15\nFREE ADMISSION \n\n\nOPENING CELEBRATION APRIL 15\n\n\n\n\nJoin us for the opening celebration of VOYAGES MONOCHROMATIQUES featuring the work of local photographers Thompson Holmes\, Richard Kohler\, Ernst-Ulrich Schafer\, and Philippe Tauran. The exhibit explores the essence of visual subject matter through the contrasts of light and shadow\, from bright whites to deep blacks\, in a celebration of black-and-white imagery. \nThe venue will open at 5PM\, with live music from The Sarah Shea Trio kicking off the evening. Gallery Manager Georgia Ray Johnson will introduce the artists and provide the land acknowledgement. The featured artists will offer their perspectives on the show followed by an opportunity for Q&A. The gallery will then open for viewing at approximately 5:35PM\, with musicians returning to perform as guests mingle until 7PM. \n\n\n\n\nON DISPLAY APRIL 15 – JUNE 15\n\n\n\n\nWithout color\, light and composition are put sharply into focus to create a fresh perspective. \nOn display April 15 through June 15th. Local photographers Thompson Holmes\, Richard Kohler\, Ernst-Ulrich Schafer and Philippe Tauran are have been working in the medium of monochrome photography for many years collectively. Through much effort and practice\, they have found that the essence of visual subject matter can genuinely be shown in monochromatic style. \nThe light and the composition are very important in capturing the moment: everything is expressed in terms of light\, from bright white to dark black\, and in many wonderful shades of gray in between. This is a celebration of black and white photography – a unique artistic experience which challenges the viewer to see beyond color. \nGallery hours are 10AM – 2PM Monday through Saturday. Free admission\, donations are appreciated and support future exhibits. Learn more at www.fieldhallevents.org/gallery

SUMMARY:Laura Cooksey Gallery Open: VOYAGES MONOCHROMATIQUES
DESCRIPTION:VOYAGES MONOCHROMATIQUES “MONOCHROMATIC JOURNEYS”\nOn Display April 15 – June 15 in the Laura Cooksey Gallery at Field Hall\nFree admission\, donations appreciated \n\n\nWithout color\, light and composition are put sharply into focus to create a fresh perspective. Local photographers Thompson Holmes\, Richard Kohler\, Ernst-Ulrich Schäfer and Philippe Tauran are have been working in the medium of monochrome photography for many years collectively.
