Tradition meets a contemporary vision\, and the memory of those who danced before flows through every movement. Dance appears as a place of passage: the past breathes in the present\, what is inherited transforms\, the body holds experience\, and each gesture finds its place in the now. \nTonight celebrates the journey\, the legacy\, and the love for those who danced before. This evening exists because others came before it\, but this one is different. It is mine and it is now.” – Marta Gálvez \nFeatured artists for La Velada include David Durán (flamenco guitarist)\, Rosa Linero (flamenco singer)\, Luis Dorado (flamenco percussionist). The artistic team includes Marta Gálvez (director\, choreographer and flamenco dancer) and Begoña Fernandez (artistic direction and dramaturgy). \nPhotography: José A. Fernández de Córdoba\nThis event is sponsored in part by Former Honorary Consul in Seattle o Luis F Esteban \n\n\n\n\n\nSPAIN FLAMENCO ARTS organizes performances\, workshops\, and cultural activities\, showcasing a wide range of artists from various styles. Through these initiatives\, it has toured embassies\, Cervantes Institutes\, cooperation offices\, international universities\, theaters\, festivals\, and other private venues around the world. \nABOUT MARTA GÁLVEZ\nBorn in Córdoba\, Marta Gálvez began her journey in flamenco at the age of three. Her passion for dance led her to train at the Conservatorio Profesional de Danza\, where she earned her degree in Spanish Dance in 2012. She also received a scholarship at the Centro Andaluz de Danza\, where she deepened her knowledge and honed her technique under the guidance of renowned professionals.  Throughout her training\, she explored various styles and techniques that enriched her artistic expression\, blending the intensity of flamenco with the elegance of Spanish dance. Her constant pursuit of learning and refinement has shaped her into a performer with a distinctive style and commanding stage presence. \nMarta Gálvez has built her career by participating in competitions and earning distinctions such as the “Outstanding Dancer” award in 2015 and the Young Flamenco Artists Award from the Córdoba Provincial Council in 2023. Her talent and versatility have led her to join companies led by David Coria\, María Pagés\, Ursula López\, José Porcel\, and Juan Carlos Avecilla\, performing at international festivals and theaters. In her most recent endeavors\, she has focused on her own projects\, including her show “Dama de Noche\,” where she showcases her creative vision and artistic evolution. The resulting outlaw ballads\, dirty jazz\, circus freakouts\, ragtime sea-shanties\, string band funk\, lonesome heart-breakers\, and whiskey bottle love songs blend together in a sweet song syrup somewhere between a ramble and a roar. If Tom Waits\, Django Reinhardt\, and Mississippi John Hurt had met in a New Orleans carnival\, stayed up all night under a bridge writing songs\, and decided to form a band\, the results might sound something like Hot Damn Scandal. \nOur mission is to make art accessible to everyone. Financial assistance is available for this event through our #fieldhallforall program. Patrons can request a discount of up to 100%. Click here to apply for financial assistance.

SUMMARY:Story People of Clallam County with Field Hall: 27th Annual Forest Storytelling Festival\, Friday Morning Segment
DESCRIPTION:Friday\, November 6th @ 9AM – 1:30PM\nTickets $30 for this segment | $70 for full festival pass\nClick here to see full festival schedule and featured storyteller bios\n9 – 10:15a: Concurrent Workshops\, Sunset Lounge \n• “Pin the Tail on the Narrative\, Sort of Lawn Darts meets Eudora Welty\,” with Andy Offutt Irwin  \nThis raucous workshop involves the careless dropping of pens* and carefully guided steps for developing personal narratives\, freeing participants to delve into the past and chip away at the unmovable stone of self-doubt to reveal the treasure of new stories. \nEach participant will be paired with a partner (a stranger is best). They’ll be guided to create a list of roles they have played throughout their life\, beginning in childhood\, and continuing on through their high school years\, work life\,  social life\,  family life\,  etc.   \nThree of these roles will be randomly and magically selected and paired with three unavoidable life experiences culled from a list of twenty.  Things like: Turning Point.  Choice.  Conflict.  Loss.  Challenge.  Decision… \nThree pairs will be whittled down\, and the most interesting pair will be picked by their partner. \nA story will be developed using the four elements of The Hero’s Journey:  Quest.  Obstacle.  Resolution.  New wisdom. \n*We will be literally dropping pens\, and I don’t toss the word literally around\, so the pen you bring to the workshop shouldn’t be your grandfather’s old fountain pen. A Bic® stolen from a motel is preferred.  \n• “Story Dynamics: Connecting with Your Audience\,” with Megan Wells \nWe can know a story in our bones\, AND\, the magic of delivering that story to an audience requires an extra layer of skills.  In this engaging hands-on workshop\, Megan will lead you in exercises that will further amplify your audience impact. \n  \n10:30 – 11:45a: Pacific Northwest Guild Tellers Performance\, Theater \nRepresenting The South Sound Storytelling Guild  of Olympia:  Sandra Niman  \nSandra Niman has used storytelling to introduce the periodic table\, to entertain giraffes and to explore the mysteries of existence. A retired teacher\, she has also been a radio host and the director of a certificate in storytelling program. She has lived and traveled to many lands\, collecting tales and searching for meaning from the muddle of memory.\n  \nRepresenting the Fireside Storytellers League of Tacoma: Bonnie Anderson \n\n\n\n\nBonnie has as been telling stories pretty much all her life.  She even got a Girl Scout badge for it in Grade school!  Her parents watched the TV show “Hee-Haw” … she heard the barber on there tell fractured fairy tales\, and decided to tell Rindercella.  She was too young to know it should be hard\, so she just did it!  She’s been telling stories ever since\, to all ages\, and in all sorts of situations.  Her favorite stories are those that make you think\, and those that make you smile. And she firmly believes that the connection between storyteller and listener is MAGIC!\n  \nRepresenting the Portland Storytellers Guild: Steven Henegar – Storyteller & Monologist \n\n\n\n\nMid-westerner Steven Henegar celebrates the wonderful variety of stories we use to share our lives. He calls up the everyday and the fantastic to discover feelings and experiences that connect us all. The veteran performer and workshop leader blends the easy conversation of his family’s storytelling with incisive imagery and word play shaped by a decade in the theater. Truth & Lies mined from a long life looking around\n\n\n\nRepresenting the Victoria  Storytelling Guild is Jennifer Ferris \n\n\n\n\nJennifer Ferris has been telling stories beside the Salish Sea and beyond for 35 years. She has performed in schools\, at community events\, nature sanctuaries and festivals. She has used story to engage and entertain listeners of all ages. Acutely aware of the power of humour and language\, she loves to tell personal stories as well as tales of myth\, magic and transformation from around the world.\nShe is as enthusiastic about the work of other storytellers as she is about her own. She gives workshops to adults\, children\, families\, businesses and international students\n\n\n  \n\n\nRepresenting the Seattle Storytelling Guild: Barry McWilliams \n\n\n\n\nBarry McWilliams has been telling stories since the mid 1980’s with a broad variety of traditional folklore\, cultural\, trickster\, and original tales. He especially likes tales with an unusual twist.\nBarry has served on the Seattle Storytellers Guild’s board (including as President from 2016-2022) and has edited In The Wind\, SSG’s Quarterly newsletter\, for over a decade. He has been the Zoom host of the Guilds online story swaps and monthly StoryFests since 2020. Barry was honored with their Golden Circle certificate in 2022. Eldrbarry’s Story Telling Page” (eldrbarry.net) has promoted the art of storytelling and the joy of story listening on the internet since 1995. Barry recently served on the National Storytelling Network’s Board representing the Producers and Organizers Special Interest Group for three years. A now retired grocery clerk and part time pastor\, Barry and Marianne\, his wife of 52 years\, reside in Everett\, WA\n  \n\n\n\n\nRepresenting the Story People of Clallam County: TBD \n\n\n\n\n  \n11:45 – 1:45p: Break for Lunch \nAttendees encouraged to pre-order a boxed lunch through the Sunset Lounge at checkout.  \n  \n12:15 – 1:30p: Story Slam “Light” Open Mic\, Sunset Lounge Stage \nTeller’s names will be pulled at random for the opportunity to tell a five-minute true\, personal story on the theme: “Second Chances”. \n  \n  \n27TH ANNUAL FOREST STORYTELLING FESTIVAL | NOVEMBER 5 – 7\, 2026\nFor more information about the Forest Storytelling Festival\, please visit: fieldhallevents.org/forest-storytelling-festival \nClick here for an all-inclusive festival pass. \nWelcome to the Annual Forest Storytelling Festival in Port Angeles\, WA! Food and drinks are available to purchase throughout the event. \nABOUT DEADWOOD REVIVAL \nKim Trenerry and Jason Mogi met in Atlanta\, GA during the mid 90’s. She was a veteran performer in musical theatre\, and he was a drummer playing with various groups in the local blues\, folk\, and jam-band scene. They both ended up in the same band (Kim as a doo-wop girl\, Jason on drums) and started hanging out between gigs playing guitars and singing Neil Young tunes. Inspired by the pure sound of their harmonies and frustrated with hectic city life\, they decided to abandon their current directions and head to the Pacific Northwest to try something new. They performed as an acoustic duo in the coffee shops and bars of Port Angeles\, WA as “Tongue and Groove” and were an immediate hit. T&G eventually added several other members\, went electric and evolved into one of the Olympic Peninsula’s favorite bands\, releasing three CD’s and playing everything from late-night Dead-esque jams in local bars to the Northwest Folklife Festival in Seattle. \nWith the confidence and experience gained from fronting a successful band and hungry to keep performing\, Kim and Jason went in a new and completely different direction. Jason picked up the claw-hammer style banjo while Kim explored old country-style rhythm guitar. And the duo “Deadwood Revival” was born. Learn more at https://www.deadwoodrevival.net/ \n  \nABOUT OPEN MIC MONDAYS\nOpen Mic Mondays are a once-monthly event at Field Hall that welcomes creative people to share their talents! Originally hosted by Bread & Gravy Duo\, Open Mic now features a rotating community host\, allowing audiences to learn more about the vibrant arts community in Port Angeles. Performers of all genres are welcomed to join us and enter for a time slot: from songwriters and poets to magicians and jugglers – all talents are welcome!

Hours: Monday-Saturday 10AM-2PM. \nThe only way for a story to progress is to turn the page. \nJohn Ondrasik— the songwriter and performer known as the platinum-selling\, Grammy-nominated\, Five For Fighting—knows this well. In the two decades since his first major single\, “Superman (It’s Not Easy)\,” hit the stratosphere\, the artist has both evolved and come back ‘round full circle. \nTo date\, Five For Fighting\, has released six studio LPs\, including the platinum certified America Town and The Battle for Everything; and the top-10 charting Two Lights\, along with an EP and live albums. Ondrasik has penned major hits\, including the chart-topping “100 Years\,” “The Riddle\,” “Chances\,” “World\,” and “Easy Tonight\,” which have earned over one billion streams and place him as a top-10 Hot Adult Contemporary artist for the 2000s. The reflective “100 Years” has joined “Superman (It’s Not Easy)” as part of the American Songbook and continues to stand the test of time at weddings\, birthdays\, graduations\, memorials\, and many a home video. Five For Fighting’s music has also been featured in more than 350 films\, television shows\, and commercials\, including the Oscar-winning The Blind Side\, Hawaii Five-O\, The Sopranos and the CBS drama\, Code Black. \nReferencing Fight For Fighting’s success in the 2000s\, AllMusic called Ondrasik “one of the decade’s leading balladeers.” But perhaps his biggest achievement is performing “Superman (It’s Not Easy)\,” at the 2001 Concert for New York\, a benefit show at Madison Square Garden that honored first responders and the fallen about a month after the tragic September 11th attacks. Ondrasik performed alongside other big -name artists like Paul McCartney\, The Who\, Elton John\, Billy Joel\, and dozens more. \nBuoyed by his unique falsetto voice and his prowess on the piano —a skill bestowed to him by his piano teacher mother—Ondrasik has made a solid reputation for himself in the world of songwriting and performance\, selling upwards of three million albums over his career. Not only does he tour with his popular string quartet and play solo and rock band gigs\, but he is also a high demand keynote\nspeaker in which he combines themes of creativity and innovation with his business acumen. He’s presented at TEDx\, The Salk Institute\, American Cancer Society\, and dozens more. \nSupport -Lace and Lee \nLace & Lee is a folk rock duo heavily influenced by the mystical wisdom of 60s and 70s storytelling\, with a twist of humor and bard-like prose. Caroline Lace and Olivia Lee began their musical journey at NYU Tisch\, and have since toured with Five For Fighting. Their ethereal vocals and risky harmonies carry the spirit and charm of Celtic music\, often holding a mirror up to the 21st century. \nOur mission is to make art accessible to everyone.
