This is a free\, all-ages event – no RSVP or ticket required. \n*VIP tables are for our very inspired patrons who choose to donate $40 to reserve seating at a premium table for up to four guests. Donations like these\, cash donations at Field Hall\, and purchases of food and drinks through the bar support this ongoing free series at Field Hall. We thank you for all levels of support – including thunderous applause for our local artists! \nABOUT BREAD & GRAVY\nBread & Gravy Duo is a popular husband and wife act (Stephanie and Jess Doenges) who perform songs across many styles and genres. They feature powerful female vocals\, eclectic piano\, rhythm guitar\, and the occasional flute and harmonica. They have hosted or cohosted many Open Mics on the peninsula\, including ‘Open Mic at the Buzz’\, ‘The Junction Open Jam’\, ‘The Rainshadow Open Mic’\, and most recently at ‘Open Mic at the Sit-N-Bull’. They often play as a bigger band\, adding steady stalwarts such as Jerry Gilleland (drums) and Jason Taylor (bass and harmonies) and have also collaborated with dozens of other local musicians\, so one never knows who will come sit in with them on a given night. Follow @breadandgravymusic for more. \nSTEPHANIE DOENGES (SOUND)\nStephanie is one of the most established and recognized musicians on the peninsula. She has been playing music since a young age\, and has been in local bands such as Restless\, Luck of the Draw\, Rolling Waters\, and the Cornstalks. For the past twelve years\, she has been the face and voice of Bread and Gravy in all of its formations. While her voice is a main draw\, and guitar is her most common instrument\, she often surprises and astounds with riveting flute and harmonica solos.\nStephanie has run sound for Open Mics for many years now\, and she’s grown very adept at dialing people in quickly\, as well as tailoring the sound to any nuance the performer displays. \nJESS DOENGES (MC)\nJess is the quintessential late bloomer\, who didn’t touch a musical instrument until age 29. Bread & Gravy is the first and only band he’s ever been in. In juxtaposition to the versatile Stephanie\, he’s a one trick pony on the piano. But his love for piano\, and his love for Stephanie shows through in his playing\, and he has truly played himself into one of the top accompanists around. As an MC\, he has tons of experience herding cats (err.. musicians) to make the Open Mic experience enjoyable and fair for all involved. His quick wit and inviting vibe tend to make the audience comfortable and relaxed\, which is what is needed to have a supportive environment for all performers.

SUMMARY:JFFA & Field Hall IN HARMONY: Jesse Roper
DESCRIPTION:JFFA & Field Hall IN HARMONY: Jesse Roper\nSaturday\, September 20th | 2 Shows: 2PM Matinee and 7PM Candlelight Show  \nField Hall is thrilled to partner with our friends at Juan de Fuca Foundation for the Arts for another “In Harmony” series\, bringing some JFFA Festival favorites back to Port Angeles. We’re starting off with a bang with two shows from crowd favorite\, Jesse Roper! \nJesse is a master at connecting his personal story and experiences to his songwriting – crafting narratives that hit on life’s challenges and eccentricities – but that remain upbeat\, engaging and wildly entertaining songs. Jesse will be joining us for two very special performances: a matinee show and an evening candlelight performance. \nGuests can also choose an optional add-on at checkout to enjoy an intimate meet and greet experience with Jesse starting at 6PM prior to his 7PM show. Tickets for the meet and greet are open to attendees of either performance and include a signed poster\, private performance\, and complimentary drinks and appetizers. \n\n\n\n\n\nBased in Victoria\, BC\, Jesse Roper is a blues/Americana artist with a penchant for writing modern indie-infused blues music and delivering bombastic live performances buoyed by his virtuosic guitar playing. His innate and impressive musical talent has served him well\, giving him the flexibility to play with soul icon Booker T. Jones\, rock veteran Colin James\, blues belter Beth Hart\, and Canadian legend Burton Cummings. The stage is where Roper shines. It has been his home since overcoming crippling stage fright during his early twenties. Fear is a part of Roper’s past that barely seems real today – especially when you see the in-concert image of a six-string soldier\, hair matted to his face\, tearing up the stage\, without a hint of second-guessing. \nRoper’s last album ‘Horizons’ marked a sonic high point in his career thus far. Working closely with famed JUNO-nominated producer Gus van Go (Metric\, The Stills\, Whitehorse\, Arkells\, The Trews\, Sam Roberts) on that new collection of songs has pushed Roper into creating some of his best work. “Recording with Gus and Werner F was on a whole new level. \nRoper released the first single off his upcoming LP (to be released in late 2023) “Make It All Work Out” on March 29th\, 2023. The song charted on Canadian terrestrial and satellite radio throughout the spring and early summer. Now all eyes are on the next release\, “Throw This Rope” produced by Gus van Go (Metric\, Whitehorse\, Sam Roberts Band). The song will be the second of multiple energetic\, fresh\, soulful and r&b inspired tracks from a forthcoming LP that harkens the voices of JJ Cale\, The Teskey Brothers\, Ben Harper and others – while maintaining Roper’s strong and unique expression in the genre.

SUMMARY:TAE & The Neighborly
DESCRIPTION:Field Hall Presents: TAE & The Neighborly\nWednesday\, September 24 @ 7PM | Sunset Lounge Dance Party\n*Tickets $20\, General Admission | Financial assistance available – click here to apply\n*Our ticketing platform Ludus charges a 5% service fee for all credit card transactions. To avoid this fee\, visit our Box Office at 201 W. Front Street and pay via cash or check. Hours: Monday-Saturday 10AM-2PM. \nCelebrate the start of fall with one final summer-style dance party and happy hour in the Sunset Lounge! This general admission event will offer a dance floor with plenty of room to boogie\, and Happy Hour specials from 5PM – 6:30PM before the music starts. \nTAE & The Neighborly\, a Wisconsin based Soul-pop R&B group\, found themselves playing music together in a very unconventional way. \nThey were all neighbors\, each one living alone on one floor of a five-story flat. Cake baking is a shared passion of the five member group\, but in the sugar shortages early in the 2020 pandemic\, they found themselves so continually knocking on each other’s doors asking for a single cup of sugar that a group decision was made to all move in together and share cake-baking resources. And since everyone knows all good rhythms begin in the kitchen\, it wasn’t before long that the group began to write and perform together  across the nation. \nCritics hail the group as “having more kick than a bagged-up mule” (Rotary Times)  and their live show “…going down smoother than a can of [beans] warmed on the campfire” (Cowboy Gazette). All in all\, if you are looking for a dense show that will give you more inspiration fuel for self lovin’\, world changin’\, and consideration havin’ meet them where the music is made to be shared. \nOur mission is to make art accessible to everyone. DESCRIPTION:Field Hall Presents: Films @ Field Hall: This is Spinal Tap\nThursday\, October 9 @ 7PM | Donna M. Morris Theater\nPay-what-makes-you-happy! DONATIONS APPRECIATED\nOur rock-themed fall film series continues with the ultimate metal movie: This is Spinal Tap! We encourage you to dress up in your best 80s or hair-metal band inspired look and rock out with us for an evening that’s turned all the way up to eleven. \nThe mockumentary comedy by Rob Reiner\, Christopher Guest\, Michael McKean\, and Harry Shearer\, This Is Spinal Tap chronicles England’s loudest and most punctual band on their disaster-filled U.S. tour. \nThis Is Spinal Tap was released to critical acclaim in 1984 and went on to become a cult classic. In 2002\, it was deemed “culturally\, historically\, and aesthetically significant” by the Library of Congress\, and was selected for preservation by the National Film Registry. \nThis Is Spinal Tap has been credited with launching the mockumentary genre. The film shines a light on the self-contained universe of a metal band struggling to get back on the charts\, including everything from its complicated history of ups and downs\, gold albums\, name changes and undersold concert dates\, along with the full host of requisite groupies\, promoters\, hangers-on and historians\, sessions\, release events and those special behind-the-scenes moments that keep it all real. This screening is hosted in celebration of the release of Spinal Tap II: The End Continues\, scheduled for theatrical release September 12th. \nDoors open at 5PM; food and drink available for purchase through the Sunset Bar & Lounge.

SUMMARY:The Things Around Us
DESCRIPTION:Field Hall Presents: The Things Around Us\nComposed\, Written\, and Performed by Ahamefule J. Oluo\nThursday\, October 16 @ 7PM | Donna M. Morris Theater\n*Tickets $25-$50 Adult\, $18 Youth | Financial assistance available – click here to apply\n*Our ticketing platform Ludus charges a 5% service fee for all credit card transactions. To avoid this fee\, visit our Box Office at 201 W. Front Street and pay via cash or check. Hours: Monday-Saturday 10AM-2PM. \n“As both a speaker and a musician\, Ahamefule J. Oluo specializes in mellow anxiety. It’s a smooth but layered style that makes them highly agreeable to listen to and at the same time unexpectedly moving. The concentrated emotional force lurking in their ease of manner sneaks up on you.” – The New York Times \nThe Things Around Us is a dazzling new work from acclaimed multi-disciplinary artist\, Ahamefule J. Oluo\, that layers live music and narrative exploration to create an introspective evening about the things that connect us all. It is the third in a trilogy of shows from Oluo\, following NOW I’M FINE and SUSAN. \nIn the show\, Oluo uses looping technology\, trumpet\, clarinet\, vocals\, cardboard shipping boxes for percussion\, and other instruments to create an expansive symphony performed live by one person. Weaving narrative layers throughout\, Oluo shares deeply personal reflections and darkly humorous accounts of strangers\, acquaintances\, and friends that conjoin with the music to create a singular\, transcendent experience. The Things Around Us is an evening that will draw you in and remind you of the beauty in life. \nIn The Things Around Us\, Oluo continues their practice of layering live music and narrative\, but departs from their previously epic ensemble work and highly personal stories to create\, instead\, an intimate solo show about other people. \nCombining experimental jazz\, new music\, Nigerian hi-life\, and electronic looping with bizarre and darkly humorous accounts of strangers and acquaintances\, Oluo draws out larger social and political meanings from those encounters\, weaving together a tapestry of characters and existential inquiries with dynamic multi-instrumental compositions\, using trumpet\, clarinet\, vocals\, looping/effects pedals\, and cardboard shipping boxes for percussion. \nThe Things Around Us began as a 15-minute video piece produced during the isolation of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020\, supported by a Mellon Creative Research Fellowship with University of Washington’s Meany Center. It has been further developed through early-stage showings at Black-centered cultural spaces LANGSTON and Wa Na Wari in Seattle\, residencies at MacDowell\, Yaddo\, and Seattle Rep. \nThe Things Around Us was supported by a commissioning grant from The Map Fund. \nOur mission is to make art accessible to everyone. Financial assistance is available for this event through our #fieldhallforall program. Patrons can request a discount of up to 100%. Click here to apply for financial assistance.

SUMMARY:Las Cafeteras: Dia de Los Muertos Concert with repertoire from Hasta La Muerte
DESCRIPTION:Field Hall & Peninsula Behavioral Health Present: Las Cafeteras\, Dia de Los Muertos Concert with repertoire from Hasta La Muerte\nThursday\, November 6 @ 7:30PM | Donna M. Morris Theater\n*Tickets $25-$35 Adult\, $18 Youth | Financial assistance available – click here to apply\n*Our ticketing platform Ludus charges a 5% service fee for all credit card transactions. To avoid this fee\, visit our Box Office at 201 W. Front Street and pay via cash or check. Hours: Monday-Saturday 10AM-2PM. \n“Urgent\, relevant music\,” – BBC  \nLas Cafeteras returns to Field Arts & Events Hall for a Dia de Los Muertos concert with repertoire from Hasta La Muerte\, an enthralling new production celebrating Life and Death\, in the spirit of the Indigenous/Mexican practice\, known as Day of the Dead. \nThis theatrical concert explores the stages of grief and loss through the celebration of life and death. The production revisits Mexican folklore to tell new stories\, engage old archetypes\, challenge patriarchy\, uplift the role of curanderas and re-examine our imagination about “death” and the “after-life.” \nEmbrace the power of storytelling as a form of processing grief and sharing love with those in the beyond. Love\, not sadness\, allows us to celebrate and remember those that have gone and remember that “death is not the end\, it is just the beginning.” \nABOUT LAS CAFETERAS\nLas Cafeteras have taken the music scene by storm with their infectious live performances and have crossed many genres and borders along the way. Their electric sound & energy has taken them around the world playing shows from Bonnaroo to the Hollywood Bowl\, WOMAD New Zealand to Montreal Jazz\, & beyond! \nBorn and raised East of the Los Angeles River\, Las Cafeteras are remixing roots music as modern day troubadours.  They are a sonic explosion of Afro-Mexican rhythms\, electronic beats and powerful rhymes that document stories of a community seeking to ‘build a world where many world fit.’ \nFrom Afro-Mexican to Americana\, from Soul to Son Jarocho\, from Roots to Rock and Hip Hop\, Las Cafeteras take folk music to the future. \nLas Cafeteras honor the past by using electrifying traditional instrumentation like the 8 string Jarana\, 4 string Requinto\, Quijada (donkey jawbone) and Tarima (a wooden platform). Las Cafeteras sing in 5 distinct languages\, English\, Spanish\, Spanglish\, Love and Justice … and they believe everyone understands at least one of those languages. \nThey’ve performed in the good company of Mexican icons Café Tacuba\, Natalia LaFourcade\, Lila Downs\, Gypsy Kings\, Colombian superstar Juanes\, Hip Hop artist Common\, Los Angeles legends Ozomatli and Los Lobos\, performing with the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra\, and many more. \nOur mission is to make art accessible to everyone. Financial assistance is available for this event through our #fieldhallforall program. Patrons can request a discount of up to 100%. Click here to apply for financial assistance.
