Grab a soup\, sandwich\, or salad from the cafe and unwind with free tunes during your lunch hour.\n\nMichael Rivers and jazz legend Craig Buhler are bringing their dynamic blend of folk gospel and jazz to Field Hall. Don’t miss this lively lunchtime concert\, perfect for grabbing a bite and enjoying great music.\n\n\nMichael Rivers Singer\, Songwriter \nMost recognized as the director of the Peninsula Men’s Gospel Singers (PMGS)\, a group he has directed for over 20 years\, Michael has also coached vocal students and toured performing original Folk Gospel. \nHe has recorded 3 CDs of his music and songs from those recordings have been played on Seattle folk stations and i heart radio. \nFor the last few years Michael has been collaborating with Craig Buhler\, a local legend in the Jazz scene. \nCraig Buhler\, Singer\, Composer\, Musician \nA member of the Olympic Peninsula arts community for over two decades\, Craig Buhler is active as a composer\, recording artist\, jazz saxophonist\, vocalist\, producer\, educator\, and advocate. \nHe is a member of the California rock group “Honk\,” which recorded and toured alongside “The Beach Boys\,” “Loggins & Messina\,” and other top artists.  “Honk” continues to sell out several Orange County venues. \nCraig’s nine CDs and three books circulate worldwide\, and his improvisation workshop is attended by many fine local musicians. \nSince 2017\, Craig has sung and played clarinet with Peninsula Men’s Gospel Singers.  He worked with the Stardust Big Band for 15 years\, including eight years as director \nMichael plays keys and sings. Craig plays sax and clarinet and narrates decades worth of pop music history and trivia. Audiences of all ages have been delighted by the playful energy these two musicians create! \nCome see these two dynamic musicians perform\, free of charge\, Thursday October 3 at the Field Arts & Events Hall in Port Angeles.

Casey is a talented musician known for her captivating voice and guitar skills.\n\nOriginally hailing from Wisconsin\, Casey discovered Port Angeles while on assignment here serving as a helicopter pilot for the Coast Guard. She will be separating from military service this summer\, but the good news is that she loves it here so much she plans to make the Pacific Northwest her permanent home.\n\nAs a singer/songwriter\, Casey creates new and refreshing sounds by combining folk\, country\, Americana and pop music and can often be found entertaining audiences at our local establishments. Says Casey\, “the breathtaking surroundings and vibrant local music community serve as a constant inspiration for me”.\n\nSo come see and hear Casey on Thursday\, September 19th between 11 am and 1 pm at the Field Hall. She will set up downstairs across from the Cafe. Stop in\, grab lunch or just coffee from the Cafe then kick back and listen as Casey performs.\n\nThere is no charge to see Casey as this is part of Field Hall’s ongoing mission to introduce the public to our talented local  music community.

At the time (2010 to 2014)\, the removal of two working dams was the largest dam removal in history. August 26\, 2024\, marks ten years since the completion of dam removal. The hand-picked images in this book came from the thousands of images that John Gussman photographed during that time period. The book includes many photos not previously published. Ten Years After contains 60 pages of full-color photographs in 8.5″ x 11″ soft cover format. Order your copy and own a part of history. John will hand sign every book sold at this event. \nThis event will take place in the Sunset Lounge. Space is limited; please RSVP.  \nABOUT THE ARTIST\nAfter getting a degree in photography\, John Gussman began working full time in 1973 as a staff photographer for a newspaper in the bay area. Moving to Washington State in 1979 to be closer to wilderness\, and with Olympic National Park as his backyard\, he began to photograph this new natural playground. \nIn 1982 John began his own business\, Doubleclick Productions\, and found he had a natural talent for photographing architecture and other commercial location work. It was consistent work to pay the bills\, always an important factor to the self employed. After doing that for over three decades\, John has come full circle in his career and now focuses most of his attention capturing landscapes\, people and adventure\, wildlife\, and the outdoor lifestyle. John has an extensive collection of stock images and video centered around the Olympic Peninsula as well as other geographic areas. With his intimate knowledge of the Olympic Peninsula natural environment\, he provides location services for commercial clients looking to film in the area. \nAlways looking for ways to push the boundaries for new perspectives\, John has worked since 2015 using UAV drones for both stills and video\, as well as aerial mapping work. He is FAA licensed and is insured to fly any commercial application for clients. \nWorking locally and abroad\, John is actively doing projects to help tell the stories of companies\, non-profits\, and environmental organizations to help tell the story of the planet.

This event is 21+   \n   \nHeadliner: Kermet Apio (Watch on YouTube)\nBorn and raised in Honolulu\, Hawaii\, Kermet Apio enjoyed a childhood in paradise. He spent his time watching television\, playing\, and procrastinating everything else. To this day\, he still does all three extensively.  \nAfter graduating from high school\, Kermet moved to Seattle to attend the University of Washington. Seattle became home. In early 1989\, Kermet did his first open mike night at the Comedy Underground in Seattle. Comedy was a fun hobby. In May of 1990\, he quit his job\, said good bye to health care and benefits\, and took the leap to performing full time. It is still his only job skill.  \nHe was the winner of the 2009 Great American Comedy Festival and has had numerous appearances on television and radio. He has showcased at comedy festivals in Aspen\, Las Vegas\, and Vancouver and has performed in 47 states and 3 Canadian provinces. He is a past winner of the Seattle Comedy Competition and was a semi-finalist in the San Francisco Comedy Competition. Also\, in 1988 he was Dishwasher of the Month at the Sea-Tac Airport Denny’s.  \nKermet is married and the proud father of two wonderful children. He enjoys his family\, baseball\, and pie. He does not enjoy opera\, sitting in traffic\, and writing about himself in the third person.  \n  \nFeature: David Kildal (Watch on YouTube)\nDavid is a Portland\, OR-based standup comedian. A native of both Southern Oregon and Southern Ohio\, he is well versed in making light of the unexciting. His style has been described as “chill\, yet spicy\, like a leftover chicken wing.” – but the reality is that his dry\, introspective sense of humor has been charming audiences for years. David is a regular at Helium Comedy Club in Portland\, and hosts the Five Star Review podcast and the Hot Bits! Comedy showcase. You’re going to love what he brings to the table!  \n

He now lives in Seattle where he brought home a Pacific-Northwest-best third place in the 2022 Seattle International Comedy Competition. He’s been featured on Cut\, The New Yorker\, and The CBC. This year\, he’ll be performing a full run with Just The Tonic at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

DESCRIPTION:Join fiber artist Evette Allerdings for a vibrant drop-in silk kerchief painting experience! Create your own unique 10×10-inch masterpiece using luxurious silk fabric and a variety of colorful nontoxic paints. No prior experience needed—just bring your creativity and enjoy a fun\, hands-on session of artistic expression guided by Evette’s expert tips and inspiring techniques. Materials are provided and there is no cost to participate. \nThis is a drop-in Artwalk experience; no RSVP or registration is required. For more information visit www.fieldhallevents.org/gallery \nABOUT THE ARTIST\nEvette Allerdings was taught to sew by her mother when she was eight. She began sewing her clothes as well as clothes for her various Barbie and Ken dolls. Every summer she and several of her friends that lived on the same block put on fashion shows for the neighborhood until she went to middle school. \nAt age 13 she saw a high school production of Don Quixote and dreamed of being a costumer. Too shy to get involved in the theater\, she often walked by the high school drama class peeking in the door but not having the courage to walk in. She graduated with a BS in Fashion Design from the University of Hawaii but chose to become a medical assistant for her lifetime career. In her mid-30’s she finally took a theater course at her local community college and later became a costumer at Windward Community College for 27 years. Winning multiple awards for best costumer\, the last being for Phantom of the Opera. \nAs a costumer\, Evette was often frustrated in her search for the perfect fabric and yearned to design her own. This led her to silk painting and she now uses silk painting to express herself. Yearning to sew again\, her next challenge will be incorporating her silk paintings into garments. \nEvette won First Price in the 2D division for last year’s Silk Painter’s International competition for her painting Solace. She has participated in recent exhibitions in Washington\, and you can see some of her continuing work in the Fiber Habit window in Port Townsend.
