This is a Sunset Lounge event with dance floor and bar service throughout the evening.  \nJoin Lucky & The Locals for a summer dance party in the Sunset Lounge at Field Hall! Doors open at 5PM\, music begins at 7PM. Reserved VIP tables are available for $40 – all other seating is first-come\, first-served and by donation. Happy hour menu and specials available 5PM – 6:30PM. \n“The Locals” is a stripped down version of Joel Ricci’s wildly popular “Funkways” ensemble featuring West Seattle All Stars Olli Klomp (Oscillators) on drums and Jason Gray (Polyrhythmics) on electric bass. The twist is Jason Cressey (Monophonics) takes up the Guitar and Lucky himself plays electric piano. Think Meters meets Hailu Mergia at a backyard barbecue. \nAmerican music artist\, Joel Ricci (fka Lucky Brown)\, writes and records in his tiny forest cabin in the foothills of the North Olympic Mountains on the Olympic peninsula of Washington State. As a songwriter\, composer\, arranger\, recording artist\, and professional session and touring trumpet player he has worked as both leader and sideman in many groups for over 20 years. \nJoel has traveled with nationally touring acts such as Portland’s MarchFourth Marching Band\, Orgone from Los Angeles\, and Moksha from Las Vegas. Recently\, an original song of his\, in collaboration with Seattle’s Polyrhythmics\, has been licensed for use in a major Jordan Peele motion picture directed by and starring Dev Patel. \nHe graduated with a bachelor’s degree in music composition from Eastern Washington University in 1999 and has performed in the Peninsula College Jazz band while studying composition and arranging under the tutelage of Dr. David P. Jones. \nAmong his dynamic studio experiments and performance situations\, his former stage/production persona\, ‘Lucky Brown’\, is probably the most widely-recognized via his relationship with German boutique funk and jazz record label\, Tramp Records\, for whom Joel has written\, arranged\, recorded\, produced and licensed more than two-dozen vinyl 45RPM singles as well as six full-length albums and EPs. This relationship has led to Ricci being hailed by music mavens worldwide as a “deep funk pioneer.” \nIn addition to his prolific output of original jazz\, funk\, blues\, and soul compositions\, Joel’s trumpet has appeared on hundreds of independent recordings. One special feature of Joel’s original music is that it comes directly from the heart\, and carries with it the gravity of spiritual and cultural consequence. This sentiment is echoed by the handful of Pacific Northwest rhythmic groups who cover his original tunes as nightly staples in their live show.

Hours: Monday-Saturday 10AM-2PM. \nBREAKING BOUNDARIES both musical and geographical\, cellist\, composer and multilingual vocalist IAN MAKSIN has created his own unique style by blending elements of different genres and traditional music from around the globe in a new way using his cello as the main unifying force. \nONE-MAN ORCHESTRA: In addition to cello\, he used an electronic device called the loop pedal\, which allows him to create “loops” or layers by recording and replaying his own playing in real time. \nSINGING IN 30 LANGUAGES: What began as a hobby and a passion for linguistics and travel has become part of a unique concert experience. At this time Ian Maksin sings in Ukrainian\, Polish\, Russian\, English\, Farsi\, Armenian\, French\, Italian\, Arabic\, Hebrew\, Mongolian\, Bambara (one of the tongues spoken in West Africa) and many other exotic languages. Most of this repertoire was amassed by Maksin during his world travels\, jam sessions and collaborations with local musicians. Many of his original songs and instrumental compositions are also infused with flavors of ethnic music from countries and regions where he drew inspiration from: Mongolia\, West Africa\, Middle East\, the Balkans\, Andalusian flamenco. \nTHE GLOBAL MUSICIAN: Ian Maksin was born in Leningrad\, former USSR\, into a multinational family and grew up absorbing many cultures and traditions from an early age. He began playing guitar and piano at age 3 and cello at age 6 at the School for Gifted Children in Leningrad and then came to the USA at 16 to continue studies at the Manhattan School of Music in New York City and Duquesne University in Pittsburgh. After working for many years in the classical genre including a three-year tenure with the New World Symphony in Miami Ian has decided to look for his own musical path. His diverse musical experience\, including playing rock and blues guitar and passion for jazz and world music has allowed him to take the cello to a new dimension and develop his own distinct style as a musician and composer. \nIn Ian’s own words: “At some point I realized that music is much more than mere entertainment. Music is one of most powerful and unifying forces in the world\, capable of healing\, inspiring\, bringing people together and bringing peace among them. I believe that cello will save the world”  \n\n\n\n\n\n

From there\, he became a founding member of Austin-based Americana ensemble The Belleville Outfit. The group toured the U.S. from 2007–2011\, during which time they released two critically acclaimed albums and played several major festivals\, including Austin City Limits\, Bonnaroo\, and MerleFest. The band was nominated for Best New and Emerging Artist by the Americana Music Association in 2009. \nWhen The Belleville Outfit disbanded in 2011\, Connor continued to write\, record\, and tour with Phoebe Hunt and Ghosts Along the Brazos\, amassing three more studio records between the two. After a stint touring with Country Music Hall-of-Famer Ray Price\, Connor became a permanent member of 10-time Grammy winner Asleep at the Wheel\, whom he toured the U.S. and Europe with from 2016–2022. During his time with The Wheel\, he had the opportunity to play with several American music icons\, including Willie Nelson\, George Strait\, James Taylor\, Paul Simon\, and Bonnie Raitt. \nWhen off the road\, he taught himself lutherie and started his bespoke guitar–making business\, Forsyth Instruments. He moved from Austin\, Texas to Port Angeles\, Washington in 2024.

The resulting outlaw ballads\, dirty jazz\, circus freakouts\, shanty-rags\, string band funk\, lonesome heart-breakers\, and whiskey bottle love songs blend together in what may be best described as ‘Cabaret Americana’: theatrical\, orchestral\, lyrical\, and endlessly danceable. \nThe group began as a nebula of traveling musicians formed around the songs of founder Pete Irving over 15 years ago. The Trinity Session was like a whisper that cut through the noise — and it was compelling. It stood out in the midst of the flash and bombast that came to define the late 80’s. The now classic recording combined folk\, blues and rock in a way that had never been heard before and went on to sell more than a million copies. \nFormed in Toronto in 1985 with siblings Michael Timmins on guitar\, Margo Timmins on vocals\, Peter Timmins on drums\, and Michael’s lifelong friend Alan Anton on bass\, the band has sparkled over the course of 29 albums. “I’ve known Alan longer than I’ve known Pete\,” says Michael. “We were friends before Pete was born.” \nUnlike most long-lasting groups\, Cowboy Junkies have never had a break up or taken a sanity-saving hiatus. There’s an appreciation of each other that keeps them constantly working. “It’s that intimacy and understanding of what each one of us brings to the table\,” says Michael. Cowboy Junkies’ will be performing a career-spanning show\, including their new album\, ‘Such Ferocious Beauty’\, which was released worldwide on June 2\, 2023 to universal critical acclaim.

In this show\, audience members will be transported to a distant and dark future. In a world where machines have taken over and humanity has regressed\, we follow two young guardians of the last natural life—a seed. Their quest takes them through many places frightening and wondrous alike\, but something is following them\, trying to stop them\, and it’s catching up.  \n \nSequim Acrobatics is a local performance studio. While they started in 2011\, their shows have grown into a  spectacle you won’t want to miss in recent years. You might have seen one of their previous shows ‘Through the Looking Glass’\, ‘Neverland’\, or ‘Pandora’\, but this year’s production will be on another level. With light up props and costumes\, aerial acrobatics (and much more!) this is not just a show—this is an experience. \nAcrobatics blends the dynamic power of gymnastics with the grace dance and storytelling of theater. Full of delicate balancing acts\, mind bending flexibility\, pyramids and throws\, CircuiTree is a showcase of athletics and creativity. He is 6 foot 6\, 360 pounds\, has two kids\, (one of them is on purpose) he’s been married for 13 years\, and has been clean and sober for 15 years. Sam likes to make jokes about what it’s like to be a sober parent. He also likes to make jokes about what jails like in Yakima. His first album and special\, Round Trip\, was recorded and filmed under the tutelage of Grammy-winning producer Dan Schlissel\, whose indie label\, Stand Up! Records\, Sam had recently signed a three-album deal with. Round Trip was released October 27th 2023 and immediately went to number one on the iTunes Comedy Charts. It even broke into the top 200 overall charts. Sam is a recurring guest and has been heard by an estimated 2.5 million listeners on the nationally syndicated “Bob & Tom Radio Show.” He has written for Newsweek. He was the runner-up in the 2021 Seattle International Comedy Competition and won the Comedy on Trial Competition in 2017. He has headlined multiple major comedy clubs including The Laugh Factory in Chicago. He’s also performed with the Addicts Comedy Tour and at NA and AA conventions all over the country.
