Tradition meets a contemporary vision\, and the memory of those who danced before flows through every movement. Dance appears as a place of passage: the past breathes in the present\, what is inherited transforms\, the body holds experience\, and each gesture finds its place in the now. \nTonight celebrates the journey\, the legacy\, and the love for those who danced before. This evening exists because others came before it\, but this one is different. Her passion for dance led her to train at the Conservatorio Profesional de Danza\, where she earned her degree in Spanish Dance in 2012. She also received a scholarship at the Centro Andaluz de Danza\, where she deepened her knowledge and honed her technique under the guidance of renowned professionals.  Throughout her training\, she explored various styles and techniques that enriched her artistic expression\, blending the intensity of flamenco with the elegance of Spanish dance. Her constant pursuit of learning and refinement has shaped her into a performer with a distinctive style and commanding stage presence. \nMarta Gálvez has built her career by participating in competitions and earning distinctions such as the “Outstanding Dancer” award in 2015 and the Young Flamenco Artists Award from the Córdoba Provincial Council in 2023. Her talent and versatility have led her to join companies led by David Coria\, María Pagés\, Ursula López\, José Porcel\, and Juan Carlos Avecilla\, performing at international festivals and theaters. In her most recent endeavors\, she has focused on her own projects\, including her show “Dama de Noche\,” where she showcases her creative vision and artistic evolution. This production has been presented at the Festival de Jerez\, Teatros del Canal in Madrid\, Centro Danza Matadero as part of the inaugural “Young Creators” program\, and the Flamenco Festival of Albuquerque 2026. \nOur mission is to make art accessible to everyone. His father\, Marcos González Mauriz (d March 1990)\, was a vocalist and rumbero who performed with prominent bandleader Arsenio Rodriguez and other well-known orchestras of the forties and fifties. \nGonzález studied popular and tres guitar at the Ignacio Cervantes Conservatory and with maestros Leopoldina Nunez and Vicente “Guyun” Gonzalez. Later took courses on orchestral conduction and contemporary harmony at Goldsmith College\, London. \nGrowing up\, González was a fan of American and British rock music before rediscovering his Cuban roots and establishing the first young “traditional” Cuban band\, Sierra Maestra\, in 1976. González’s stated goal was to keep the torch of Cuban folk music alive for a younger generation. \nGonzález became a key member of the Buena Vista Social Club under contract with Nick Gold\, of World Circuit Records. Using his knowledge on and contacts in the Cuban music world González  created the required line-up\, where many of the musicians were old friends of his dad. \nWhen Ry Cooder arrived in Havana for recording\, González himself was working an “all stars” album tribute to the golden era greats of Cuban music\, the Afro-Cuban All Stars\, featuring many of the same musicians who comprise the Buena Vista Social Club. Subsequently\, González led this band\, The Afro-Cuban All Stars and  Ruben Gonzalez’s ensemble on their first European and American tours\, including the concerts at Le Carre (Amsterdam)\, Mexico’s Auditorio Nacional and Carnegie Hall. \nGonzález’s work has been nominated 4 times for the GRAMMY awards and won the first Womex Awards. \nOur mission is to make art accessible to everyone. Building upon Field Hall’s mission to be a home for arts and events that bring people together and strengthen community\, the AIR program shifts the organization beyond traditional presenting into a model of artistic creation and production. Luca’s creative style\, which led him to invent instruments like the Reversed Triple Neck Guitar and the Reversed Slide Neck\, vastly contributed to the modern evolution of acoustic guitar. \nKnown worldwide for his explosive fingerstyle technique\, alternate tunings\, and multi-neck guitars\, Stricagnoli transforms the acoustic guitar into a full orchestra—blending melody\, rhythm\, percussion\, and harmony into a single\, unforgettable performance. His original compositions and reimagined covers push the boundaries of what’s possible on six strings\, delivering both technical brilliance and pure entertainment. \nHe has been hailed as a phenomenon and a prodigy by influential magazines and newspapers all over the world\, including NME\, Guitar World\, Der Spiegel\, La Repubblica\, Daily Sabah\, Frankfurter Allgemeine and more. \nLocal fans will recognize him from performances at Juan de Fuca Festival for the Arts. \n\n\n\n\n\nABOUT LUCA STRICAGNOLI\nLuca started his career at the age of 10\, studying classical guitar and later attending the Conservatory\, the most prestigious music school in Italy. He excelled in classical competitions\, placing 1st at the contest “Cittá di Lissone”\, and when he finally discovered Fingerstyle Guitar\, he began spending endless hours on YouTube\, learning techniques just by watching videos. Using his acoustic guitar\, he won even more competitions\, such as the Acoustic Guitar Contest “VII Festival Internazionale Della Chitarra di Fiuggi” with a score of 100/100\, the “Festival dei Talenti” and an opportunity to open for Legendary Italian band New Trolls. Meanwhile\, Luca met the Italian luthier Davide Serracini\, with whom he collaborated ever since. \nIn the coming years\, Luca started creating his own unique style\, which included utilizing violin bows\, multiple guitars at once\, modified capos and unusual tunings. His breakthrough came when his arrangement ‘The Last Of The Mohicans’ was picked up by Candyrat Records\, the most influential Fingerstyle label\, and quickly reached streaming numbers in the millions. After this success\, Luca was asked to release his debut album. The lead single\, a brilliant rendition of ‘Thunderstruck\,’ went viral with over 14 million views in just a few weeks\, which led to him being invited to perform all around the world. \nLuca started an intense touring activity and a few years later published his second album ‘What If?’\, which incorporated many of the unorthodox ideas that he had been working on\, like the Reversed Triple Neck Guitar. At this time Ian Maksin sings in Ukrainian\, Polish\, Russian\, English\, Farsi\, Armenian\, French\, Italian\, Arabic\, Hebrew\, Mongolian\, Bambara (one of the tongues spoken in West Africa) and many other exotic languages. Most of this repertoire was amassed by Maksin during his world travels\, jam sessions and collaborations with local musicians. Many of his original songs and instrumental compositions are also infused with flavors of ethnic music from countries and regions where he drew inspiration from: Mongolia\, West Africa\, Middle East\, the Balkans\, Andalusian flamenco. \nTHE GLOBAL MUSICIAN: Ian Maksin was born in Leningrad\, former USSR\, into a multinational family and grew up absorbing many cultures and traditions from an early age. He began playing guitar and piano at age 3 and cello at age 6 at the School for Gifted Children in Leningrad and then came to the USA at 16 to continue studies at the Manhattan School of Music in New York City and Duquesne University in Pittsburgh. After working for many years in the classical genre including a three-year tenure with the New World Symphony in Miami Ian has decided to look for his own musical path. His diverse musical experience\, including playing rock and blues guitar and passion for jazz and world music has allowed him to take the cello to a new dimension and develop his own distinct style as a musician and composer. \nIn Ian’s own words: “At some point I realized that music is much more than mere entertainment. Music is one of most powerful and unifying forces in the world\, capable of healing\, inspiring\, bringing people together and bringing peace among them. A special preview for the Port Angeles High School class of 1971 and their guests will be hosted prior to the public reception; contact gallery@fieldhallevents.org for more information. \nFrom August 21st – October 24th the Laura Cooksey Gallery at Field Hall will host a shared exhibit of photography by Steve Raber and clothing design by Joyce Nadig from 1982 – 1987. \nSteve Raber’s photographs preserve both private moments and big\, bold and joyous pronunciation of character from the straight and queer bars of mid-1980s Los Angeles. Joyce Nadig’s clothing collections from the mid-1980s reveals a discipline built on fabric\, silhouettes\, and intentional design. \nJoyce and Steve grew up together in Port Angeles and graduated from Port Angeles High School with the class of 1971. \n\n Gallery hours are 10AM – 2PM Monday through Saturday.
