The tour follows a remarkable recent chapter: six new albums released since 2015\, the artistic renaissance of Spellbound (her first album of all self-penned songs\, nominated for Best Folk Album at the 2023 GRAMMY Awards)\, and her 2025 poetry collection Sometimes It’s Heaven: Poems of Love\, Loss and Redemption—a vivid extension of the honesty and grace that have defined her enduring legacy. \n  \nABOUT JUDY COLLINS\nJudy Collins is an award-winning singer-songwriter esteemed for her imaginative interpretations of traditional and contemporary folk standards and her own poetically poignant original compositions. Her stunning rendition of Joni Mitchell’s “Both Sides Now” from her landmark 1967 album\, Wildflowers\, has been entered into the Grammy Hall of Fame. Judy’s dreamy and sweetly intimate version of “Send in the Clowns\,” a ballad written by Stephen Sondheim for the Broadway musical A Little Night Music\, won “Song of the Year” at the 1975 Grammy Awards. She’s garnered several top-ten hits gold- and platinum-selling albums. Recently\, contemporary and classic artists such as Rufus Wainwright\, Shawn Colvin\, Dolly Parton\, Joan Baez\, and Leonard Cohen honored her legacy with the album Born to the Breed: A Tribute to Judy Collins.  \n  \nOPENING ACT: OAKLAND RAIN\nEven things that seem identical are different. Oakland Rain’s Maren Wallevik and Charlotte Wallevik are what some would call mirror twins\, an elusive condition loosely defined by opposing characteristics. For example\, one is left-handed\, the other is right-handed; one thinks in colors (sound-to-color synesthesia)\, and the other is more language centric. Within Maren and Charlotte are many contrasts that shape their sense of selves\, both as individuals and as twin sisters. \nFor the Norwegian indie folk-pop/ country-americana duo’s double full-length debut\, Twin Flames\, the sisters explore these paradoxes and other puzzles of identity. The conceptual and thoughtfully curated project is organized by color and genre. Twin Flame Part I: The Evergreen (the “green” side) is showcasing Oakland Rain’s affinity for earthy Americana\, and was released in the spring of 2025\, receiving stunning reviews. With the album\, the sisters got nominated for Best New Artist at the honorable Fjordingprisen by Norwegian Americana Forum\, played at Folk Alliance International\, and got invited to an extensive North American tour by legend Judy Collins. With the album and its aftermath\, Oakland Rain released the album documentary “The Road To The Ryman”\, which has gained attention amongst international film festivals. Twin Flame Part II: Heavenly Blue (the “blue” side)\, is slated for autumn 2026/spring 2027\, gracefully delves into Nordic fleeting alternative pop. \n“The title Twin Flames felt like us—we are literally twin flames—the music on the album is influenced by the dualities that shape us\,” Maren says. Charlotte continues: “These two albums are our expression of the human condition. The green side is the realism of life\, and the blue side is escapism and imagination. Hours: Monday-Saturday 10AM-2PM.  \nGet up-close and personal with one of America’s most celebrated contemporary composers\, Jessie Montgomery\, as she engages in a Community Conversation and Q&A about her career and the new work she is composing as an Artist in Residence at Field Hall. \nThe evening will open with students of the PAHS Orchestra performing Strum\, one of Jessie’s original compositions which they learned while studying her work with Nathan Rødahl\, PAHS Orchestra Director. Strum was the state-winning piece as performed by the 25-26 PAHS Chamber Orchestra at the WMEA State Solo and Ensemble contest. Finally\, Jessie will offer a Q&A with the audience\, allowing guests to further explore her work\, inspirations\, and creative process. \nABOUT FIELD HALL ARTISTS IN RESIDENCE \nThe Artists-in-Residence (AIR) Program at Field Arts & Events Hall transforms Port Angeles into a center for artistic creation\, cultural exchange\, and community engagement. Building upon Field Hall’s mission to be a home for arts and events that bring people together and strengthen community\, the AIR program shifts the organization beyond traditional presenting into a model of artistic creation and production. Artists are invited to the North Olympic Peninsula for extended residencies to develop new work while engaging deeply with local residents through workshops\, masterclasses\, lectures\, open rehearsals\, school visits\, and public performances. \nThrough partnerships with schools\, libraries\, senior centers\, cultural organizations\, and regional arts institutions\, the program creates meaningful opportunities for community members to participate in the creative process itself\, fostering lifelong learning and strengthening the cultural vitality of the region. \nJessie Montgomery will use her residency to advance the creative development of a new opera project intended for future production in partnership with the Metropolitan Opera. The residency will provide dedicated time for musical exploration\, collaboration\, and public engagement around the process of creating large-scale contemporary opera. \nABOUT NATHAN RØDAHL \nThree-time GRAMMY nominated Music Educator Nathan Rødahl has served as Director of Orchestras at Port Angeles High School for nearly a decade. He leads the program’s long-standing quadrennial tours to New York City and has expanded opportunities for North Olympic string players through international performance tours to Central Europe. \nNationally active in music education\, Rødahl served two terms as Northwest Chair on NAfME’s National Orchestra Council\, served as a Teacher Leader with the federally funded Connected Arts Networks (CAN)\, and is a nationally recognized presenter on emergent research and string pedagogy.  Locally\, he serves on the staff of the Wintergrass Festival Orchestra and cofounded the weekly Port Angeles Community String Jam. \nABOUT JESSIE MONTGOMERY \nJessie Montgomery is a GRAMMY® Award-winning composer\, violinist\, and educator whose work interweaves classical music with elements of vernacular music\, improvisation\, poetry\, and social consciousness\, establishing her as an acute interpreter of 21st-century American sound and experience. His father\, Marcos González Mauriz (d March 1990)\, was a vocalist and rumbero who performed with prominent bandleader Arsenio Rodriguez and other well-known orchestras of the forties and fifties. \nGonzález studied popular and tres guitar at the Ignacio Cervantes Conservatory and with maestros Leopoldina Nunez and Vicente “Guyun” Gonzalez. Later took courses on orchestral conduction and contemporary harmony at Goldsmith College\, London. \nGrowing up\, González was a fan of American and British rock music before rediscovering his Cuban roots and establishing the first young “traditional” Cuban band\, Sierra Maestra\, in 1976. González’s stated goal was to keep the torch of Cuban folk music alive for a younger generation. \nGonzález became a key member of the Buena Vista Social Club under contract with Nick Gold\, of World Circuit Records. Using his knowledge on and contacts in the Cuban music world González  created the required line-up\, where many of the musicians were old friends of his dad. \nWhen Ry Cooder arrived in Havana for recording\, González himself was working an “all stars” album tribute to the golden era greats of Cuban music\, the Afro-Cuban All Stars\, featuring many of the same musicians who comprise the Buena Vista Social Club. DESCRIPTION:Friday\, November 6th @ 9AM – 1:30PM\nTickets $30 for this segment | $70 for full festival pass\nClick here to see full festival schedule and featured storyteller bios\n9 – 10:15a: Concurrent Workshops\, Sunset Lounge \n• “Pin the Tail on the Narrative\, Sort of Lawn Darts meets Eudora Welty\,” with Andy Offutt Irwin  \nThis raucous workshop involves the careless dropping of pens* and carefully guided steps for developing personal narratives\, freeing participants to delve into the past and chip away at the unmovable stone of self-doubt to reveal the treasure of new stories. \nEach participant will be paired with a partner (a stranger is best). They’ll be guided to create a list of roles they have played throughout their life\, beginning in childhood\, and continuing on through their high school years\, work life\,  social life\,  family life\,  etc.   \nThree of these roles will be randomly and magically selected and paired with three unavoidable life experiences culled from a list of twenty.  Things like: Turning Point.  Choice.  Conflict.  Loss.  Challenge.  Decision… \nThree pairs will be whittled down\, and the most interesting pair will be picked by their partner. \nA story will be developed using the four elements of The Hero’s Journey:  Quest.  Obstacle.  Resolution.  New wisdom. \n*We will be literally dropping pens\, and I don’t toss the word literally around\, so the pen you bring to the workshop shouldn’t be your grandfather’s old fountain pen. A Bic® stolen from a motel is preferred.  \n• “Story Dynamics: Connecting with Your Audience\,” with Megan Wells \nWe can know a story in our bones\, AND\, the magic of delivering that story to an audience requires an extra layer of skills.  In this engaging hands-on workshop\, Megan will lead you in exercises that will further amplify your audience impact. \n  \n10:30 – 11:45a: Pacific Northwest Guild Tellers Performance\, Theater \nRepresenting The South Sound Storytelling Guild  of Olympia:  Sandra Niman  \nSandra Niman has used storytelling to introduce the periodic table\, to entertain giraffes and to explore the mysteries of existence. A retired teacher\, she has also been a radio host and the director of a certificate in storytelling program. She has lived and traveled to many lands\, collecting tales and searching for meaning from the muddle of memory.\n  \nRepresenting the Fireside Storytellers League of Tacoma: Bonnie Anderson \n\n\n\n\nBonnie has as been telling stories pretty much all her life.  She even got a Girl Scout badge for it in Grade school!  Her parents watched the TV show “Hee-Haw” … she heard the barber on there tell fractured fairy tales\, and decided to tell Rindercella.  She was too young to know it should be hard\, so she just did it!  She’s been telling stories ever since\, to all ages\, and in all sorts of situations.  Her favorite stories are those that make you think\, and those that make you smile. And she firmly believes that the connection between storyteller and listener is MAGIC!\n  \nRepresenting the Portland Storytellers Guild: Steven Henegar – Storyteller & Monologist \n\n\n\n\nMid-westerner Steven Henegar celebrates the wonderful variety of stories we use to share our lives. He calls up the everyday and the fantastic to discover feelings and experiences that connect us all. The veteran performer and workshop leader blends the easy conversation of his family’s storytelling with incisive imagery and word play shaped by a decade in the theater. Truth & Lies mined from a long life looking around\n\n\n\nRepresenting the Victoria  Storytelling Guild is Jennifer Ferris \n\n\n\n\nJennifer Ferris has been telling stories beside the Salish Sea and beyond for 35 years. She has performed in schools\, at community events\, nature sanctuaries and festivals.She has used story to engage and entertain listeners of all ages. Acutely aware of the power of humour and language\, she loves to tell personal stories as well as tales of myth\, magic and transformation from around the world.\nShe is as enthusiastic about the work of other storytellers as she is about her own. She gives workshops to adults\, children\, families\, businesses and international students\n\n\n  \n\n\nRepresenting the Seattle Storytelling Guild: Barry McWilliams \n\n\n\n\nBarry McWilliams has been telling stories since the mid 1980’s with a broad variety of traditional folklore\, cultural\, trickster\, and original tales. He especially likes tales with an unusual twist.\nBarry has served on the Seattle Storytellers Guild’s board (including as President from 2016-2022) and has edited In The Wind\, SSG’s Quarterly newsletter\, for over a decade. He has been the Zoom host of the Guilds online story swaps and monthly StoryFests since 2020. Barry was honored with their Golden Circle certificate in 2022. Eldrbarry’s Story Telling Page” (eldrbarry.net) has promoted the art of storytelling and the joy of story listening on the internet since 1995. Barry recently served on the National Storytelling Network’s Board representing the Producers and Organizers Special Interest Group for three years. Megan fell in love with the theater arts at the ripe age of seven. She’s been devoted ever since; gathering a lifetime of plays\, stories\, teaching\, workshops\, dance and improv. She is a six-time national award winner\, as well as a sought-after coach in both the Theater and Storytelling worlds. \nFor 35 years Gene Tagaban has worked nationally and internationally: mentoring\, training\, and sharing stories of his traditions and culture. Gene facilitates healing with tribal and indigenous organizations\, universities\, schools\, museums\, spiritual and religious communities\, environmental and wilderness groups\, prisons\, and detention centers. He also conducts celebrations and ceremonies. Gene is a trainer and board member with the Native Wellness Institute\, keeping our ancestral wisdom alive. Gene is always open to share a good story\, spirit and inspiration with people of all ages. \nAndy Offutt Irwin shares a Silly Putty® voice\, heart-filled humor\, and world-class whistling.
