She lives physically in the day\, and ethereally in the evening\, with full feeling and empathy for all of her past and future selves.  As a human\, she is simply known as Stephanie Lee Kernes-Reaume-Batson-LaRonge-Doenges.   She is a multi instrumental classically trained musician and vocalist.  One time\, she won a competition.  At another time\, she was locally known as ‘The Singing EMT’ on youtube.  These days\, she’s known as the lead singer and guitar player and flute player and harmonica player and uke player for Bread & Gravy.   She’s also known as an artist who paints mandala art paintings.  She’s also known as a sound tech\, and runs sound for the Open Mic at the Field Hall\, as well as for her own shows.  In the past\, she was in local bands such as ‘Restless’\, ‘Luck of the Draw’\, and ‘Rolling Waters.’ \nJess Doenges:  piano/God :  At 13 years old\, Jess worked in a gas station.  13 years after that\, he realized he wanted to learn to play the piano.  13 years after that\, he started playing piano professionally.  13 years after that\, he wrote this show.  In the midst of those years\, Jess completely mastered spoken word\, slam poetry\, songwriting\, poker\, and fantasy football.  Playing God has been very humbling for him\, as he always thought he was above such things. \nOwl Chrysalis Medicine:  Narrator/Time Lord :  Owl Medicine is a multi instrumentalist and best selling trauma author and educator.  His music mirrors his writing in its unabashed and powerful approach to vulnerability.  He busked his way through England\, France\, Spain\, and Scotland\, but has found his forever home here on the Olympic Peninsula.  You can find him teaching workshops and performing his unique genre that he calls ’emotive acoustic’. \nJustin Ridle:  random 1950s guy :  After years of annoying his parents with his nonstop vocals\, Justin’s mother and father had the good sense to put Justin in a choir\, and he has never looked back.  For two decades\, Justin sang in theatre:  From opera to rock reviews.. From Australia to Disney World to the National Cathedral in D.C\, he splattered the world with his beautiful and soulful voice.  These days\, he sings on his farm\, in his barn\, on the river\, with friends around campfires\, and habitually hosts gatherings with many of the most talented and unique people on this planet.  His infectious spirit and genuine interest in lifting up those around him make him a person to know fondly. \nJesse Ahmann:  cellist/random 13th century human:   As a classically trained cellist\, and having been surrounded by music all his life\, Jesse has always dreamt of being a composer. He has since learned multiple instruments and frequently uses them in his compositions\, realizing that dream\, working as a film composer\, meditative music writer\, and successful YouTube musician. He loves to convey emotion\, both in the undercurrents of his music and the melodies. He has performed as principal cellist for numerous symphonies across the Northwest\, and also performed at Carnegie Hall and the Kennedy Center; additionally\, he was a featured artist on National Public Radio’s (NPR’s) “All Things Considered.” His musical credits include performances throughout Europe\, Asia\, Central\, and South America.   Locally\, he performs with musical groups such as ‘The Ahmann Brothers’ and ‘Topia Vana’.   Jesse has also started playing standup bass with Bread & Gravy\, and he’s already nearly as accomplished with it\, as he is with the cello.  He has played in exotic places\, such as Quilcene and Chimacum\, in front of tens\, if not dozens\, of people. \nIsabelle Rose:  keyboards/space person:  From a galaxy far far away in Los Angeles California. Isabelle Rose started her musical journey with keyboards in the year 1977.  She was 4 years old the first time she went to see Star wars! When she got home\, she started playing on her dad’s keyboards and baby grand piano.  Since then\, she has evolved in her playing of musical covers\, as well as her original compositions\, with inspiration from Duran Duran\, ELO\, Led Zeppelin\, and Dream Theater.  For years\, she’s been wowing local audiences with her extremely unique and highly entertaining one person show. \nJason Taylor:  bass player/random 1960s human:   Jason is a bass player and vocalist hailing from the Pacific Northwest whose eclectic musical influences are apparent through his playing\, and is constantly working to push the boundaries of his musical understanding. He is most known for his playing with the band Bread & Gravy\, and more recently for his time with Tuff Puffin. When not playing music\, Jason can usually be found foraging or growing gourmet mushrooms.  Seriously. \nJerry Gilleland:  drummer/pirate from 1800s:   Jerry Gilleland\, known to everyone as the kindest musician on the Olympic Peninsula\, is a multi instrumentalist who has been playing drums since 1976.  He taught high school percussion and private lessons for 5 years.  He has been in roughly 100 bands and has played just about every musical style that exists.  He is nicknamed ‘lint’\, because he is always ‘in the pocket’.  As a life highlight\, he allegedly went to a raging party with Jerry Garcia’s dog walker. \nVienna Baron:  Harmony/Random Human: Vienna is one of the Harmony Honey Buns and has been singing with Bread and Gravy for a little over a year. She is a classically trained vocalist and attended Berkley College of Music in Boston\, MA and Western Washington University in Bellingham\, WA as a music major. She plays several different instruments\, has her own band (Olympic Generations)\, and they have been together for over 15 years. Her musical influences are mostly classic country artists such as Glen Cambell\, The Judds\, and The Sons of the Pioneers. She also enjoys some of the tight harmonies from Motown and blue grass. While in high school and college\, she has participated in musical theater and in multiple community choruses\, singing different parts depending on the need: soprano\, alto and/or tenor. She loves listening to a wide variety of music from classical to contemporary worship and pop music.  She loves performing and collaborating with other artists from our musical community.  Her favorite color is All of Them. \nKathy Corriel:  Harmony/Random Human:   Kathy is recently retired and a late bloomer in the local music scene\, although she’s been singing harmony since before she knew what it was.  She grew up in a very musical family and would often sing along with songs from the 40s to the 70s (the ‘Wonder Years’ of music).   She has been a soprano in several worship bands from the age of 17\, and also performed with Port Angeles Community Chorus in a production of ‘Handel’s Messiah’ and other classic operatic pieces.  Currently\, she feels blessed to be part of the Bread & Gravy family and the thriving local music community.   She loves Art\, Music\, Cats\, and PBJ sandwiches with cold milk.

Morris Theater\nTickets $25-$55  CLICK HERE FOR TICKETS \nHailed as “among the most gifted musicians of his generation” with a “dazzling natural keyboard affinity” who “made quite an impression” by the Washington Post\, American pianist\, composer\, and improviser Charlie Albright has been praised for his “jaw-dropping technique and virtuosity meshed with a distinctive musicality” by The New York Times\, and his “extravagance that had showmanship but never felt cheap” with his “ease and smoothness that refuses to airbrush the music\, but animates it from within” by the Philadelphia Inquirer. \nRecipient of the prestigious Avery Fisher Career Grant and Gilmore Young Artist Award\, Albright won the Ruhr Klavier Festival Young Artist Award presented by Marc-André Hamelin (Germany) and the Young Concert Artists International Auditions.  His debut commercial recording\, Vivace\, has sold thousands of copies worldwide and the first two parts of a 3-part Schubert Series of live\, all-Schubert recordings was released in 2017 and 2020. Charlie Albright breaks the “classical” rules of music by connecting with audiences like no other. Through his music\, speaking\, and unique improvisations that bring music to life\, he crosses all genres…and makes it fun. \nAlbright’s compositions and improvisations have been likened to “the great Romantic-era composer-pianists” by Classical Source and have been praised as “thrilling” by the DC Metro Theatre Arts.  The Philadelphia Inquirer raved that he “brought the art of classical-music improvisation to a new level.”  The Boston Musical Intelligencer wrote simply that “Albright is a master of improvisation.”  \nField Arts & Events Hall\, the Field Hall Gallery\, and the upstairs Sunset Bar & Lounge will open at 12:30PM on Sunday\, April 6th. Food and drink will be available for purchase in the Sunset Bar & Lounge prior to the start of the show and to pre-order for intermission. Theater doors will open at 1:30PM for the 2PM performance. DESCRIPTION:Field Hall Presents\nDavid “Dawg” Grisman: Reflections at 80\nSunday\, March 23 @ 2PM | Donna M. Morris Theater\nTickets $40-$95 | CLICK HERE FOR TICKETS \nConversations & Music with Danny Barnes\, Tracy and Sam Grisman on Dawg’s 80th Birthday \nJoin us for a very special event celebrating the legendary mandolinist/composer David “Dawg” Grisman on his 80 birthday! This unique afternoon will feature David in conversation with his friend and colleague Danny Barnes\, sharing stories\, anecdotes about his illustrious career and the incredible musicians he’s played with over the years. Throughout the dialogue Dawg will play some of his tunes with his wife Tracy\, his son Sam and Danny. \nThis is a rare opportunity to experience Dawg music and celebrate the life and legacy of one of the most influential figures in acoustic music.\nDon’t miss this unforgettable event! \nCover art: Tracy Grisman. See this portrait on display at the Laura Cooksey Gallery at Field Hall January 30 – April 6 as part of LIFE FORCE. \nABOUT THE ARTIST\nDavid Grisman emerged as a mandolin visionary from New York City’s Greenwich Village folk scene in the early 1960s. He first played with local bluegrass bands and then professionally with the Even Dozen Jug Band\, Red Allen and the Kentuckians and Earth Opera. He became a record producer and session player on recordings with Tom Paxton\, Judy Collins\, James Taylor\, Linda Ronstadt\, Dolly Parton and many others. In 1969\, Jerry Garcia invited David to play on the Grateful Dead’s classic\, American Beauty. Garcia famously dubbed him “Dawg” and their musical friendship led to the formation of the legendary bluegrass band\, Old & In The Way. \nDawg unleashed an acoustic musical revolution with his 1977 release — The David Grisman Quintet\, featuring David’s original compositions and forging a ground-breaking style rooted in high-energy bluegrass\, interlaced with elements of jazz and world music. The Quintet (and Quartet\, Sextet and Dawg Trio) showcased dawg music for four decades with its renowned members — Tony Rice\, Darol Anger\, Todd Phillips\, Mike Marshall\, Mark O’Connor\, Joe Craven\, Enrique Coria\, Matt Eakle\, Jim Kerwin\, John Carlini\, George Marsh\, Frank Vignola\, Chad Manning\, George Cole\, Sam Grisman\, Danny Barnes and others. David also maintained a formidable traditional bluegrass presence with the David Grisman Bluegrass Experience. \nIn 1990 David founded Acoustic Disc\, producing over 100 projects featuring collaborations with Jerry Garcia\, Del McCoury\, Tony Rice\, Doc Watson\, Stephane Grappelli\, John Hartford\, Mike Seeger\, Andy Statman\, Vassar Clements\, Martin Taylor\, John Sebastian\, Tommy Emmanuel and others\, as well as historically important recordings by Dave Apollon\, Jacob Do Bandolim\, Oscar Aleman\, Svend Asmussen and Bill Monroe. \nDavid Grisman is known worldwide for his melodious mandolin style\, compositional ingenuity and the inspired performances of the groups he’s led. Today Dawg spends most of his time producing digital projects for Acoustic Disc and Acoustic Oasis\, which he runs with his wife Tracy. He still writes tunes and practices the mandolin\, but rarely concertizes\, making this appearance all the more special!

SUMMARY:Noche Flamenca\, La Ronde (Entre Tu y Yo)
DESCRIPTION:Field Hall Presents: Noche Flamenca\, La Ronde (Entre Tu y Yo)\nSaturday\, March 1 @ 7PM | Donna M. Morris Theater\nTickets $35-$75  CLICK HERE FOR TICKETS \nFlamenco in its purest form: an evening of duets\, solos\, and company pieces by Martín Santangelo\, Soledad Barrio\, and Noche Flamenca. \nSoledad Barrio & Noche Flamenca\, the renowned company founded by Artistic Director Martín Santangelo and dancer Soledad Barrio\, return with a new version of La Ronde (Between You and Me)\, an evening-length program of duets and ensemble works. \nApollinaire Scherr\, in a review for The Financial Times\, described La Ronde “as flamenco puro—the Spanish art stripped to its flammable core.” Brian Seibert wrote in The New York Times\, “The visual design is no more elaborate than cafe chairs and a spotlight. The wonderful musicians and the dancers’ feet are barely amplified. That’s all in accord with the company aesthetic: bare bones\, nothing to hide behind\, nothing to get in the way.”  \n“La Ronde\,” a work inspired by Max Ophüls’ 1950 film\, and the dizzying carousel of romantic and sexual relationships it presents\, that Noche Flamenca has been developing for four years. True to the company’s boundary-pushing and emotionally probing style\, in “La Ronde\,” artistic director and choreographer Martin Santangelo uses a series of duets to explore love\, hate\, jealousy\, and death. The piece draws inspiration from Ingmar Bergman’s Persona\, the pianist James Booker\, the story of Cain and Abel\, Demeter & Persephone\, and other sources\, in addition to Ophüls. \nAlso part of the program is “Refugiados” (“Refugees”)\, created from poems by children in refugee camps. To develop “Refugiados”—first created 15 years ago\, and further developed for the engagement at the Connelly—Santangelo and the company took the children’s poems\, translated them to Spanish\, and set them to song and dance. \nFinally\, La Ronde includes Soledad’s Barrio’s signature\, “Soleá\,” which exemplifies the catharsis at the heart of flamenco. In it\, she displays the singular artistry Tobi Tobias attributed to her in ArtsJournal\, where she wrote\, “What woman could hold a candle to Soledad Barrio? In modern dance\, Isadora Duncan and Martha Graham. In ballet\, maybe Nora Kaye\, in her Tudor roles. Certainly no one we can go and see today has Barrio’s transformative power.”

SUMMARY:Jenner Fox: A John Prine Christmas
DESCRIPTION:Jenner Fox: A John Prine Christmas\nSaturday\, December 14 @ 7PM | Donna M. Morris Theater\nTickets $25-$50 Adult\, $15 Youth CLICK HERE FOR TICKETS \nEver wonder what John Prine has to do with Christmas? Ever wished the beloved songwriter had more to do with sleigh bells\, eggnog\, and Old Saint Nick? \nIn 1994 Prine released his 11th LP titled\, “A John Prine Christmas.” The critics didn’t acclaim it much\, but with titles such as “Silent Night All Day Long ” and “I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus\,” it’s still Prine at his lovely wry best\, bringing Christmas home. \nWe are proud to present “A John Prine Christmas” – a night of your favorite songs featuring folk troubadour and Prine scholar\, Jenner Fox\, with his all-star band. The evening will weave together Prine’s classic hits\, his holiday themed songs\, stories\, and lots of singing along. Come prepared to laugh and cry and ho ho ho your way through celebrating a true American original. \n \nABOUT THE ARTISTS (www.jennerfox.com)\nMade up of members from Pacific Northwest groups Polecat\, Petty or Not and Skillethead\, the Jenner Fox Band first assembled for a 240 mile cargo bicycle tour across Northern California in 2021. It clicked. They shared a sensibility for deep listening\, three part harmonies\, John Prine\, and flat tires. Americana UK calls their most recent LP\, “Evocative and revelatory…reminiscent of children’s books much loved by adults.” This band is not one to be missed.

SUMMARY:Samite: Resilience
DESCRIPTION:Samite: Resilience\nSaturday\, November 23 @ 1PM | Donna M. Morris Theater\nSaturday\, November 23 @ 7PM | Donna M. Morris Theater\nTickets $25 – $50 Adults\, $15 Youth CLICK HERE FOR TICKETS \nBeautiful\, powerful\, personal and musical – “Resilience” is a play with the urgency of now combined with timeless stories of healing. \nInternationally recognized musician\, humanitarian\, and artists Samite tells his life’s story in this multi-media one-man play. He tells the story of his emergence from the nightmare of life under Amin and Milton Obote (“… when the birds stopped singing”) to being a healer through the power of music. \nSamite often includes a story or two in his concerts\, but now he has turned his entire presentation inside out and the result is raw and bracing. Both performances of this show include an extended post-performance Q&A for authentic audience connection. \n \n  \n“Rhythmic beats\, floating melodies and impactful lyrics are the main components needed to create African music. These are also the elements Ugandan musician Samite Mulondo uses to spread hope\, healing and peace around the world.” – Grand Valley Lanthorn \n“Resilience is about blending beautiful traditional African music with stories of hope and tolerance. Sharing difficult topics\, Samite opened the doors for the us to gain new knowledge and empathy with grace and sensitivity. Music definitely heals – A must see!” – Karen Wacks\, (LMHC\, M.Ed.\, MT-BC) Professor of Music Therapy\, Berklee College of Music \n  \nABOUT THE ARTIST\nThe world-renowned musician Samite was born and raised in Uganda\, where his grandfather taught him to play the traditional flute. \nWhen he was twelve\, a music teacher placed a western flute in his hands setting him on his way to becoming one of East Africa’s most acclaimed flutists. He performed frequently to enthusiastic audiences throughout Uganda until 1982\, when he was forced to flee to Kenya as a political refugee. Samite immigrated to the United States in 1987\, and now he and his wife Sandra make their home on their small horse farm in upstate New York. \nWhen he is not touring\, Samite finds inspiration from their horses\, Shadow and Thyme\, photography and woodworking. Today his smooth vocals accompanied by the kalimba\, marimba\, litungu\, and various flutes mesmerize audiences throughout the world. \nSamite has released eleven CDs internationally and in 2009\, the film Taking Root: The Vision of Wangari Maathai\, which features his original score\, debuted nationally on PBS. Samite released My Music World\, in 2010 and\, as he states\, the album captures more of who he is than any of his previous albums. “It represents influences from all the places I have been\, from my childhood in Uganda\, and my life in Kenya as a refugee\, to my current travels in Africa with my work for Musicians for World Harmony. I am always inspired by my surroundings– my childhood hikes into the forest\, my teenage years in Kampala\, and my visits to refugee camps and orphanages.” In 2012\, Samite composed the soundtrack for the film Addiction Incorporated and his ninth CD\, Trust {Inspired by the soundtrack for the film “Addiction Incorporated”} was  released in that year.  Samite has recently released his tenth CD\, “Another Side of Me” (available on this website) and he is currently working on another CD to be released later this year. \nSamite is the subject of the documentary\, Song of the Refugee\, distributed by PBS in 1998. It was while filming this that Samite’s work as a humanitarian began.  In 2002\, he founded Musicians for World Harmony\, an organization dedicated to enabling musicians throughout the world to share their music to promote peace\, understanding\, and harmony among people. In that capacity he travels to sing\, play music\, and exchange stories with victims of war\, poverty and HIV/AIDS.  He has traveled extensively the war-torn and distressed countries of Uganda\, Kenya\, Congo\, Rwanda\, Tanzania\, Latvia\, Liberia and Cote d’Ivoire to work in refugee camps\, with former child soldiers and AIDS orphans. \nIn his role as Founding Director of Musicians for World Harmony\, Samite is fortunate to bring his message of peace to a wide audience. He performed his arrangement of the traditional Baganda song\, Ani Oyo for The Dalai Lama in 2007 during Bridging Worlds with His Holiness The Dalia Lama in Ithaca\, NY. In 2009 he performed at “Connecting For Change\,” part of the 2009 Vancouver Peace Summit: Nobel Laureates in Dialogue\, hosted by the Dalai Lama Center for Peace and Education. \nIn the fall of 2011\, Samite performed and spoke at the UNHCR 60th Anniversary Celebration in New York City. More recently Samite collaborated with the filmmakers of “Alive Inside\,” an award-winning documentary on the power of music to awaken the memories locked away in patients with Alzheimer’s disease and dementia.  This film and Samite’s subsequent place on Dr. Bill Thomas’ 2014 “Second Wind Tour\,” have cemented the natural progression of the work that Samite does with Musicians for World Harmony.  This direction\, of an increased focus on working with seniors and dementia patients\, evolved into a collaboration between MWH and Dr. Bill Thomas for his “Age of Disruption Tour” in 2016 and 2017. Samite and Musicians for World Harmony continue to bring the healing power of music into communities in upstate New York and around the country- working with young and old alike. \nIn the Spring of 2018\, Samite finished recording his eleventh CD\, Resilience -and it was released on September 14\, 2018.  He also completed two years of work with directors at Saint Joseph University on the theatrical performance of the same name which had its World Premiere on March 23\, 2018 in Hartford\, CT.  Samite is now touring Lessons of Humanity and Resilience\, his one-man theater performances and his compelling show\, The Story of Mutoto\, in which he connects the stories of his childhood in Uganda to his trips to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest in western Uganda and the plight of the endangered Silverback Mountain Gorillas.

SUMMARY:The 7th Voyage of Egon Tichy
DESCRIPTION:The 7th Voyage of Egon Tichy (Sinking Ship Productions and Theater in Quarantine)\nSaturday\, November 16 @ 2PM | Donna M. Morris Theater\nTickets $25-$50 Adult\, $15 Youth CLICK HERE FOR TICKETS \nSpace traveler Egon Tichy likes his quiet time. \nBut when his ship gets hit by a chunk of interstellar detritus\, he’s sent careening into a minefield of time vortexes. This slapstick science-fiction adventure propels Sinking Ship and Theater in Quarantine into their most technically ambitious production to date\, improbably trapping performer Joshua William Gelb amidst an exponentially expanding cast of one. \nThis is a live multi-media performance including both a live actor onstage and video overlay. \nABOUT THE ARTISTS \nSinking Ship Productions (www.sinkingshipproductions.com) a New York-based theater company\, is the creative collaboration between Jonathan Levin and Josh Luxenberg. We work with a core group of Associate Artists\, combining physical theater\, puppetry\, music and movement in delightful\, strange and unexpected ways. Sinking Ship creates work that is the theatrical version of circumnavigating the globe in a questionably seaworthy vessel: grand and ridiculous\, unadvisedly ambitious\, and possibly delusional as we sail full tilt to the horizon. \nTheater in Quarantine (youtube.com/theaterinquarantine) is an Obie and Drama League Award-winning performance laboratory dedicated to the exploration of the live theatrical experience in the digital space. Established in response to the pandemic\, TiQ has developed and live-streamed dozens of visually distinctive\, original works to its YouTube channel\, working out of a closet in the East Village that’s only 8 sq feet. \nTheater in Quarantine merges the live and the digital — embracing 21st century solutions to the question of “what is “theatrical”? Our digital and hybrid programming spans genres and styles\, with world premieres of new plays\, new musicals\, adaptations of classic texts\, dance\, and site-specific art installations. \nThe accessibility of the digital form has allowed us to reach audiences around the globe\, with our viewership growing from just a handful to thousands. Theater in Quarantine has been featured on NPR’s All Things Considered\, Japan’s NHK Television\, and has been profiled in The New Yorker and The New York Times. Within a single year Theater in Quarantine has been a five-time New York Times Critic’s Pick as well as one of Vulture’s “Top 10 Best Theater Moments of 2020” and among the New York Times’ “Best Theater of 2021.”\n\nDuring the first two years of the COVID-19 pandemic Theater in Quarantine was run by Co-Creative Directors Joshua William Gelb and Katie Rose McLaughlin\, collaborating remotely with over a hundred collaborators and reaching audiences across the globe. Presenting partners include The Invisible Dog\, Theater Mitu\, LaMama\, CultureHub\, New Georges\, CulturalDC\, A2SF\, the Exponential Festival\, and NYUSkirball. TiQ continues to create new and exciting digital performances for both in-person and digital audiences.
