SUMMARY:Comedy Night in the Sunset Lounge
DESCRIPTION:August 3 @ 8PM | Comedy Night in the Sunset Lounge\nSunset Lounge opens to ticket holders starting at 6PM\n$28 Standard\, $125 VIP Table (seats 4)\, CLICK HERE FOR TICKETS \nIt’s Comedy Night in the Sunset Lounge! Enjoy a taste of our seasonal food and drink menu as well as stunning views from the waterfront Sunset Lounge and a hilarious night of standup comedy. \nProducer and host Drew Wilson-McGrath selected a couple of his favorite comics for this summer comedy night at Field Hall. Bring a friend and share a laugh with two PNW comedians; David Kildal and the one and only Kermit Apio!   \nFood and drink served; choose between a $28 general admission ticket or share a VIP table for four for $125. This event is 21+   \n   \nHeadliner: Kermet Apio (Watch on YouTube)\nBorn and raised in Honolulu\, Hawaii\, Kermet Apio enjoyed a childhood in paradise. He spent his time watching television\, playing\, and procrastinating everything else. To this day\, he still does all three extensively.  \nAfter graduating from high school\, Kermet moved to Seattle to attend the University of Washington. Seattle became home. In early 1989\, Kermet did his first open mike night at the Comedy Underground in Seattle. Comedy was a fun hobby. In May of 1990\, he quit his job\, said good bye to health care and benefits\, and took the leap to performing full time. It is still his only job skill.  \nHe was the winner of the 2009 Great American Comedy Festival and has had numerous appearances on television and radio. He has showcased at comedy festivals in Aspen\, Las Vegas\, and Vancouver and has performed in 47 states and 3 Canadian provinces. He is a past winner of the Seattle Comedy Competition and was a semi-finalist in the San Francisco Comedy Competition. Also\, in 1988 he was Dishwasher of the Month at the Sea-Tac Airport Denny’s.  \nKermet is married and the proud father of two wonderful children. He enjoys his family\, baseball\, and pie. He does not enjoy opera\, sitting in traffic\, and writing about himself in the third person.  \n  \nFeature: David Kildal (Watch on YouTube)\nDavid is a Portland\, OR-based standup comedian. A native of both Southern Oregon and Southern Ohio\, he is well versed in making light of the unexciting. His style has been described as “chill\, yet spicy\, like a leftover chicken wing.” – but the reality is that his dry\, introspective sense of humor has been charming audiences for years. David is a regular at Helium Comedy Club in Portland\, and hosts the Five Star Review podcast and the Hot Bits! Comedy showcase. You’re going to love what he brings to the table!  \n

SUMMARY:Comedy Night in the Sunset Lounge
DESCRIPTION:July 13 @ 8PM | Comedy Night in the Sunset Lounge\nSunset Lounge opens to ticket holders starting at 6PM\n$28 Standard\, $125 VIP Table (seats 4)\, CLICK HERE FOR TICKETS \nField Hall presents\, by popular request\, live comedy in the Sunset Lounge! Local comedian and emcee Sam Grello hosts a side-splitting evening featuring two standout Seattle standups: Quinn Fitzgerald and Timmy Booth! \nThe Sunset Bar & Lounge opens to ticket holders at 6PM and will be serving cocktails\, mocktails\, and our July picnic-themed menu. Tickets for this show are required for entry to the Sunset Lounge; this is a 21+ event. \nHOST: SAM GRELLO\nSam Grello is a stand-up comedian\, writer\, and conflict avoider currently based in Port Angeles\, Washington. Sam has been personally shamed and fired by some of America’s most legendary performers in comedy and film. “Get that little jerk OUT of here.” – Tom Cruise. \nOPENER: QUINN FITZGERALD (WATCH ON YOUTUBE)\nForgive Quinn Fitzgerald for being easily confused — the Seattle-based comedian finds himself in many uncomfortable situations. Luckily for his audiences\, these turn out hilarious. Quinn produces the weekly Tony V’s Garage comedy showcase. He’s an everyman who’s not too proud to admit that most of the time he — like most of us\, really — is just trying to figure out what the heck is going on. \nOPENER (NEW!): CAROLE FREEMAN (WATCH ON YOUTUBE)\nCarole Freeman is a comedian and podcast host originally from a small town in Oregon. She spent the first half of her life trying to be a perfect good girl and is now discovering how fun it is to make up for lost time. She channels the tragedy of her near-death experiences into her sarcastic\, self-deprecating delivery on stage. She’s performed in The World Series of Comedy\, was a semifinalist in The Funniest Comic in the Valley\, and voted as having the best high school graduation photo with a cat. \nHEADLINER: TIMMY BOOTH (WATCH ON YOUTUBE)\nTimmy Booth is one of two standup comedians ever born in Stokesdale\, NC. He now lives in Seattle where he brought home a Pacific-Northwest-best third place in the 2022 Seattle International Comedy Competition. He’s been featured on Cut\, The New Yorker\, and The CBC. This year\, he’ll be performing a full run with Just The Tonic at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

To see all participating galleries and locations\, visit https://www.portangelesartscouncil.org \nEvette Allerdings is currently featured in the Field Hall Gallery exhibit COLORS OF NATURE. For more information visit www.fieldhallevents.org/gallery \nABOUT THE ARTIST\nEvette Allerdings was taught to sew by her mother when she was eight. She began sewing her clothes as well as clothes for her various Barbie and Ken dolls. Every summer she and several of her friends that lived on the same block put on fashion shows for the neighborhood until she went to middle school. \nAt age 13 she saw a high school production of Don Quixote and dreamed of being a costumer. Too shy to get involved in the theater\, she often walked by the high school drama class peeking in the door but not having the courage to walk in. She graduated with a BS in Fashion Design from the University of Hawaii but chose to become a medical assistant for her lifetime career. In her mid-30’s she finally took a theater course at her local community college and later became a costumer at Windward Community College for 27 years. Winning multiple awards for best costumer\, the last being for Phantom of the Opera. \nAs a costumer\, Evette was often frustrated in her search for the perfect fabric and yearned to design her own. This led her to silk painting and she now uses silk painting to express herself. Yearning to sew again\, her next challenge will be incorporating her silk paintings into garments. \nEvette won First Price in the 2D division for last year’s Silk Painter’s International competition for her painting Solace. She has participated in recent exhibitions in Washington\, and you can see some of her continuing work in the Fiber Habit window in Port Townsend.

SUMMARY:First Fed Community Conversation: Documentary "Screenagers" in partnership with Port Angeles Healthy Youth Coalition
DESCRIPTION:Tuesday\, June 18th @ Field Hall: First Fed Community Conversation: Documentary “Screenagers” in partnership with Port Angeles Healthy Youth Coalition\nFREE EVENT – Please click here to RSVP \nField Arts & Events Hall is excited to host a screening of the documentary SCREENAGERS and post-show First Fed Community Conversation surrounding the effects of screen time on kids. This event is presented in partnership with Port Angeles Heathy Youth Coalition with support from the Washington State Health Care Association and Prevention Works! \nThe Field Hall lower Pat Donlin Lobby and upstairs Sunset Lounge will open at 4:30PM on Tuesday\, June 18th for a pre-show community showcase with our presenting partners. SCREENAGERS screening begins at 5:30PM in the Donna M. Morris Theater. Stay for a post-screening discussion in the theater. This event is free – please RSVP. \nAre you watching kids scroll through life\, with their rapid-fire thumbs and a six-second attention span? Physician and filmmaker Delaney Ruston saw that with her own kids and learned that the average kid spends 6.5 hours a day looking at screens. She wondered about the impact of all this time and about the friction occurring in homes and schools around negotiating screen time—friction she knew all too well. \nIn SCREENAGERS\, as with her award-winning documentaries on mental health\, Delaney takes a deeply personal approach as she probes into the vulnerable corners of family life\, including her own\, to explore struggles over social media\, video games\, academics and internet addiction. Through poignant\, and unexpectedly funny stories\, along with surprising insights from authors\, psychologists\, and brain scientists\, SCREENAGERS reveals how tech time impacts kids’ development and offers solutions on how adults can empower kids to best navigate the digital world and find balance. \n\n\n\n\n\nPhysician and filmmaker\, Delaney Ruston decided to make SCREENAGERS when she found herself constantly struggling with her two kids about screen time. Ruston felt guilty and confused\, not sure what limits were best\, especially around mobile phones\, social media\, gaming\, and how to monitor online homework. Hearing repeatedly how other parents were equally overwhelmed\, she realized this is one of the biggest\, unexplored parenting issues of our time. \nAs a director\, Ruston turned the camera on her own family and others—revealing stories of messy struggles over social media\, video games\, academics and internet addiction.  We meet Hannah\, a 14-year old victim of social media bullying who struggled trying to hide her social media use from her mom. And Andrew\, whose love of video games turned into an addiction taking him from earning straight A’s to flunking out of college. \nInterwoven into these stories\, are cutting edge science and insights from thought leaders Peggy Orenstein\, Sherry Turkle\, Simon Sinek\, as well as leading brain scientists who present evidence on the real changes in the brain when kids are on screens. SCREENAGERS goes far beyond exposing the risks of screen time\, it reveals multiple approaches on how parents and educators can work with kids to help them achieve a healthy amount of screen time. \nParents are encouraged to bring their kids to the movie. Learn more at www.screenagersmovie.com.
