SUMMARY:Open Mic Mondays hosted by Bread & Gravy Duo

This is a Sunset Lounge event with bar service throughout the evening. \nField Arts & Events Hall welcomes you to share your talent on our Sunset Lounge stage! Join us for Open Mic Mondays in the Sunset Lounge\, hosted by Bread & Gravy Duo. Signup for open mic begins at 6PM; open mic starts at 6:15PM. This is a free\, all-ages event – no RSVP or ticket required. \n*VIP tables are for our very inspired patrons who choose to donate $40 to reserve seating at a premium table for up to four guests. Donations like these\, cash donations at Field Hall\, and purchases of food and drinks through the bar support this ongoing free series at Field Hall. We thank you for all levels of support – including thunderous applause for our local artists! \n\n\n\n\n\nABOUT BREAD & GRAVY\nBread & Gravy Duo is a popular husband and wife act (Stephanie and Jess Doenges) who perform songs across many styles and genres. They feature powerful female vocals\, eclectic piano\, rhythm guitar\, and the occasional flute and harmonica. They have hosted or cohosted many Open Mics on the peninsula\, including ‘Open Mic at the Buzz’\, ‘The Junction Open Jam’\, ‘The Rainshadow Open Mic’\, and most recently at ‘Open Mic at the Sit-N-Bull’. They often play as a bigger band\, adding steady stalwarts such as Jerry Gilleland (drums) and Jason Taylor (bass and harmonies) and have also collaborated with dozens of other local musicians\, so one never knows who will come sit in with them on a given night. Follow @breadandgravymusic for more. \nSTEPHANIE DOENGES (SOUND)\nStephanie is one of the most established and recognized musicians on the peninsula. She has been playing music since a young age\, and has been in local bands such as Restless\, Luck of the Draw\, Rolling Waters\, and the Cornstalks. For the past twelve years\, she has been the face and voice of Bread and Gravy in all of its formations. While her voice is a main draw\, and guitar is her most common instrument\, she often surprises and astounds with riveting flute and harmonica solos.\nStephanie has run sound for Open Mics for many years now\, and she’s grown very adept at dialing people in quickly\, as well as tailoring the sound to any nuance the performer displays. \nJESS DOENGES (MC)\nJess is the quintessential late bloomer\, who didn’t touch a musical instrument until age 29. Bread & Gravy is the first and only band he’s ever been in. In juxtaposition to the versatile Stephanie\, he’s a one trick pony on the piano. But his love for piano\, and his love for Stephanie shows through in his playing\, and he has truly played himself into one of the top accompanists around. As an MC\, he has tons of experience herding cats (err.. musicians) to make the Open Mic experience enjoyable and fair for all involved. His quick wit and inviting vibe tend to make the audience comfortable and relaxed\, which is what is needed to have a supportive environment for all performers.

SUMMARY:Tenderly - The Life and Times of Nat King Cole
DESCRIPTION:Field Hall Presents: Tenderly – The Life and Times of Nat King Cole\nAugust 18th\, 19th\, and 20th @ 6PM | Sunset Bar & Lounge\n*Tickets $40\, 2 item food and beverage minimum | CLICK HERE FOR TICKETS\n*Our ticketing platform Ludus charges a 5% service fee for all card transactions. To avoid this fee\, visit our Box Office at 201 W. Front Street and pay via cash or check. Hours: Monday-Saturday 10AM-2PM. \nAward-winning artist Duane Forrest blends the timeless music of Nat King Cole with powerful storytelling in a captivating\, heartfelt exploration of legacy\, identity\, and quiet resistance. \nFrom Off-Broadway stages to international festivals\, Forrest invites audiences into an intimate\, soul-stirring journey through the life and influence of one of the 20th century’s most iconic voices. Blending velvety renditions of Cole’s classics with deeply personal reflection\, he explores how a Black man in 1950s America became a cultural pioneer — the first to host a nationally broadcast television show — while navigating a world that celebrated him onstage but resisted him off it. \nRaised in Toronto\, Forrest reflects on his own relationship with jazz — a genre born from Black roots\, yet often presented as distant or elite — and how discovering Cole’s music opened the door to spaces he once felt were not meant for him. \nThrough song\, story\, and striking theatrical imagery\, Tenderly is a moving meditation on influence\, dignity\, and the quiet power of simply showing up. \nUplifting\, personal\, and unforgettable: this is a must-see performance!  \n  \nABOUT DUANE FORREST\nDuane Forrest is a professional singer-songwriter and multimedia artist from Toronto\, Ontario.\nHis unique sound blends jazz\, reggae\, bossa nova\, soul\, and smooth vocals. Over the past decade\, Forrest has released two full-length original albums and toured in Canada three times\, in Europe four times\, and in Central America three times. He has secured radio play in Canada\, Germany\, Honduras\, Iceland\, Italy\, Nicaragua\, and the United States. His latest album\, The Climb\, reaches more than 4\,000 monthly listeners on Spotify. \nIn 2017\, Duane debuted his first theatre production\, Climb\, a live album experience based on his concept album\, The Climb. Duane also presented Climb at the 2018 Toronto Fringe Festival\, where Toronto Fringe founder Gregory Nixon described the show as “one of the highlights of this year’s Fringe.” Most recently in 2019 & 2022 Climb received glowing reviews at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. In 2023 Duane performed CLIMB at the Milan Fringe Festival and was runner up for “show of the festival”. He also debuted a new show called “Bob Marley: How reggae changed the world” that received a 5 star review from Broadway Baby. As he furthers his career\, Forrest aims to continue to push the boundaries of his art by delivering music in diverse storytelling formats. \nOur ticketing platform Ludus charges a 5% service fee for all card transactions.
