Get ready to tease it to the heavens and strut your retro style—Field Hall is throwing it back to the swinging ’60s with John Waters’ outrageously fun 1988 cult classic, Hairspray! Come dressed to impress in your boldest vintage looks and highest hairdos for a night of big laughs, big hair, and even bigger heart. This irreverent celebration of self-expression, dance, and defiance is a technicolor time warp you won’t want to miss!
When Tracy Turnblad (Ricki Lake), an overweight teen, auditions for a spot on a popular teen dance show, she beats out the spiteful Amber von Tussle (Colleen Fitzpatrick), winning over Amber’s boyfriend (Michael St. Gerard) in the process. After meeting some black students at her school, Tracy begins to push for more racial integration on the dance show. This gets her into trouble on many sides, especially with Amber’s pushy parents (Sonny Bono, Deborah Harry).
Hairspray (1988) is rated PG for mild rude and suggestive humor The runtime is 1 hour and 32 minutes.
