Join us for FREE JAZZ SUNDAY in the Sunset Lounge on Sunday, August 2nd featuring The Hot Club of Port Townsend!
The Hot Club of Port Townsend is an ensemble of accomplished musicians. The repertoire features Django Reinhardt style Hot Club jazz, harmony vocals (in English and French), French waltzes and an occasional Brazilian choro. You will find the ensemble performing at various venues and festivals in the Pacific Northwest, but mostly in and around Port Townsend because; let’s face it, it’s the best place on earth.
Members of the ensemble are Ryan Hoffman, a specialist in the Hot Club Jazz genre, who studied in Europe with some of the greats of this style and has been on the PNW music scene for years with bands such as Zazou and Pearl Django. Jessica Logan, guitarist and vocalist also formerly of the popular group Zazou, also has dedicated her musical life to Hot Club Style Jazz and singing French Cafe music. Bobbi Nikles, violinist and vocalist, who explores a wide array of musical genres: oldtime, Irish, jazz, and more. Aptly described as “solid” by the Roanoke Times, upright bassist Tracy Grisman has been holding down the rhythm for many stellar combos for over twenty years, including jazz standards, traditional Italian tunes and compositions of the renown David Grisman. Dana Sullivan, drummer, plays in a variety of musical groups from jazz to Western Swing, and proudly leads the Democracy Bucket Brigade. Et voila! The Hot Club of Port Townsend!
General Admission seating is first come, first-served and not guaranteed throughout the event. Private premium tables are available by RSVP and $40 donation.
LIVE MUSIC in the Sunset Lounge from 12:00 to 1:30PM. Bloody Mary & Mimosa Bar available in the Sunset Lounge 11:00AM – 2:00PM. The Waterfront Coffee Bar will be open and offering food and drink from 8:00AM-3:00PM.
Free Jazz Sunday is a monthly event series at Field Hall and is made possible through the support of local donors; if you’d like to support this series, please consider a donation at checkout or during the event.
Please note: seating is limited for this popular free event series! Plan to arrive early (doors open at 11AM) to secure seating. Seating is first come, first served and limited – standing room only once full. To guarantee seating, please reserve a VIP table for four.
