    Music on the Strait Opening Night

    Music on the Strait celebrates chamber music in the singularly beautiful environment of the Olympic Peninsula and Salish Sea. MOTS was founded in Port Angeles in 2018 by locally-raised musicians James Garlick and Richard O’Neill in partnership with the Port Angeles Symphony. ​For Opening Night on August 1, pianist Jeremy Denk returns for the fifth time, presenting Beethoven's "Ghost" Trio, the rare chamber version of his Fourth Piano Concerto, and American Charles Ives' "Concord" Sonata.

    Music on the Strait Festival Finale: Joyce Yang and Friends

    Music on the Strait celebrates chamber music in the singularly beautiful environment of the Olympic Peninsula and Salish Sea. MOTS was founded in Port Angeles in 2018 by locally-raised musicians James Garlick and Richard O’Neill in partnership with the Port Angeles Symphony. The 2024 summer finale features pianist Joyce Yang, silver medalist at the Van Cliburn Piano Competition in 2005, when she was only 19! Joyce will perform solo Preludes by Rachmaninov and Dvorak's rollicking "Dumky" Piano Trio. Efe Baltacıgil returns for 2024 composer-in-residence Paul Wiancko's inventive new work for solo cello, piano quartet, and glockenspiel: Closed Universe.

    Music on the Strait: Bach’s Goldberg Variations

    Join Music on the Strait for an exciting program featuring Bach's transcendent Goldberg Variations, arranged for violin, viola and cello. Artistic Directors Richard O'Neill and James Garlick perform with celebrated cellist Karen Ouzounian in an adaptation for strings described by someone important as "life-changing."
