The Sequim local has achieved international acclaim for her epic, emotionally powerful music. Her May 10th performance at Field Arts & Events Hall was a rare opportunity for the public to enjoy her immersive film and music live.
On Saturday, May 10th, something extraordinary happened in Port Angeles. For one night only, locally based and internationally acclaimed pianist and composer Jennifer Thomas transformed Field Arts & Events Hall into a cinematic dreamscape. Her first public concert since 2019, the evening was an immersive experience of sound, story, and sea as Jennifer performed selections from her new album, Oceans.

This hometown performance marked the only planned live concert of 2025 for the Sequim-based artist, and fans traveled from across the country to enjoy it.
Jennifer brought her newest album Oceans to life on stage with breathtaking intensity. Accompanied by a talented trio of local musicians—Nathan Rodahl (violin), Morgan Bartholick (violin), and Jesse Ahmann (cello)— Jennifer guided the audience through waves of sweeping orchestrations, all enhanced by Jennifer’s original filmography, and Field Hall’s state-of-the-art acoustics and custom-designed lighting.

Between thunderous crescendos and cinematic scores, Jennifer shared moments of heartfelt vulnerability. The artist opened up about her journey, her creative process, and what it meant to finally return to the stage after years of anticipation and preparation. The result was a profound connection with the audience—one forged through both music and shared emotion.

Behind the scenes, making this immersive experience possible took collaboration, vision, and a venue ready to rise to the occasion. Jennifer praised the Field Hall team for going above and beyond:
This concert was a challenging one to pull off and I asked for things that were outside the normal box. Field Hall showed up for me in the best way possible. They brought in additional surround sound speakers, spent countless hours designing the lighting, and even indulged my request to remove the Steinway’s piano lid so the audience could better see the screens and string players. I couldn’t have worked with better people, or a better venue.

WHAT'S NEXT FOR JENNIFER THOMAS?
Although this was her only live concert planned for 2025, Jennifer isn’t slowing down creatively. Her upcoming album, Game of Shadows, is set for release later this year and promises a thrilling dive into the world of spy and heist-themed music—freshly recorded at the iconic Abbey Road Studios.
Jennifer will also be expanding her YouTube Artist Series this summer, offering fans a behind-the-scenes look at life as an artist on the Olympic Peninsula.
And hopefully, as she joked, finding a moment or two to rest after four non-stop years of work! Follow Jennifer’s journey on her website or social media; links below:
