About Jenny
Jenny Stewart-Houston has been dancing, moving, and performing for as long as she can remember, beginning at age three and eventually building a full professional career in Vancouver, BC. Her performance experience includes cruise ships, opening ceremonies, film and television, dance companies, professional sports dance teams, and live theatre.
Teaching came just as naturally. Jenny began leading dance classes at twelve years old and has spent her life sharing movement with children and adults alike. With a Bachelor’s degree in Education, she has years of experience in early learning classrooms as a teacher, aide, and team collaborator. Her foundation in child development helps her create movement experiences that are playful, accessible, and deeply supportive.
Jenny is also a certified yoga instructor, trained in India, and has taught yoga, mindfulness, and embodied awareness in schools and studios for more than 15 years. As a Peninsula Performs artist, she weaves dance, yoga, and imagination together to help students feel confident in their bodies, connected to their creativity, and joyful in their learning.
What Students Can Explore
Jenny’s workshops give students permission to explore movement authentically in playful and creative environments. Through dance, yoga, and embodied learning, students can build creative confidence, collaborate more effectively, reflect on their learning process, build stronger classroom relationships, and develop independence.
Students get the most from Jenny’s teaching when: “They know they have permission to authentically move their bodies in fun and explorative environments.”
In Jenny’s classroom, students: “Are free to be creative and expressive with their movements.”
Jenny focuses on helping students: “Trust their own movement instincts.”
Students leave with: “A feeling of nervous system regulation and empowerment.”
