Legendary for more than five decades of boundary-pushing physical comedy, virtuosic juggling, and sharp social commentary, The Flying Karamazov Brothers return with an entirely new theatrical work. Artifishal Idiots is a bold, funny, and unsettling exploration of artificial intelligence—and what it means to be human.
Set in a not-too-distant future where flesh-and-blood humans may no longer exist, Artifishal Idiots fuses high-level juggling, music, and live performance with AI-generated visuals and hallucinatory projections across three massive screens. The result is a one-of-a-kind theatrical experience that delivers nonstop laughter alongside jaw-dropping physical feats.
At the heart of the work is a deceptively simple idea: what can machines never replace? The answer unfolds through juggling, an art form defined by risk, imperfection, and inevitable failure. Gravity always wins, and in that failure, the show finds something profoundly human.
Created and performed by Paul Magid (Dmitri Karamazov) alongside collaborators Chen Pollina and Tomoki Sage of the ensemble NANDA, the production reflects the Karamazovs’ tradition of building everything in-house, from choreography and performance to visuals, design, and conceptual world-building. AI-driven imagery inspired by psychedelic 1960s light shows collides with blisteringly fast, intricate juggling to create moments of beauty, chaos, and surprise.
