About Maude
Maude Eisele brings over 25 years of theatre teaching experience into the classroom, blending improv, movement-based storytelling, physical theatre, and Shakespeare to spark curiosity, literacy, and confidence. She specializes in inhabiting the worlds of stories, using gesture, movement, soundscapes, and spatial awareness to bring environments to life.

Maude has taught with the Denver Center for the Performing Arts, Colorado Shakespeare Festival, Mizel Center for the Arts, Boulder Ensemble Theater Company, and Junior Theatre in Balboa Park, San Diego. Now based just outside Port Townsend, she works with Centrum and is a founding board member and frequent performer with Saltfire Theatre.

Her classes are playful, movement-driven, and designed to help students build collaboration, empathy, and joy in performance.

What Students Can Explore
Maude’s workshops invite students to explore stories and characters through movement, improvisation, physical and emotional communication, and ensemble work. With more time, students can build technical skills and creative confidence, create original work, collaborate more effectively, reflect on their learning, revise and improve their work, complete larger projects, prepare for performance or exhibition, build stronger classroom relationships, and develop independence.

Students get the most from Maude’s teaching when: “They have space, mentally and physically, to play, and we have cultivated focus in our ensemble.”

In Maude’s classroom, students: “Explore physical and emotional methods of communication and storytelling, play together to strengthen the ensemble, express their impressions of a story or character, and become part of the story.”

Maude focuses on helping students: “Be seen and heard in the world, express themselves and their impressions of a story, explore their humanity and their connections to others.”

Students leave with: “A greater connection to their empathy, more understanding of theatre’s power to create worlds and connect our shared experiences, and a greater understanding of the technical aspects of theatre and storytelling.”
